This is not only a brand's understanding, control and expression of industrial design, but also an important symbol of brand maturity.

The embodiment of brand culture in appearance design is difficult to be realized on a product, which requires a long-term accumulation and precipitation process, which requires continuity, consistency and inheritance of design style. Mature brands and iterative products will maintain the consistency of style, thus enhancing the recognition of products and helping to improve consumer loyalty. However, immature brands have a great variety of product styles, which also exposes the brand's uncertain understanding of products and can not give people a sense of reliability.

We can see that in recent years, with the gradual maturity of domestic mobile phone brands, many brands have formed their own distinctive styles in product design. The product recognition is very high, and it is known at a glance that it is a mobile phone of a certain brand, which also reflects the maturity level of China's mobile phone manufacturers. Correspondingly, the international influence of domestic mobile phone brands continues to increase.

While the appearance design of the same brand maintains continuity, there is also a trend of convergence of different brand design styles. Narrow edge without frame, back arc round edge, side voice hole, back fingerprint, appearance color, etc., all came together, and similar designs were adopted, showing the convergence of different brands. There are three reasons for this. One is the result of the optimization and improvement of ergonomics. In the process of continuous improvement, everyone has come to the same place through different paths, forming a mainstream aesthetic. The second is the result led by Samsung and Apple. In the face of the "winner takes all, Matthew effect", it is normal that the appearance design style is dominated by the strong, and it is difficult for the weak to speak out and gain recognition. Just like a few years ago, Nokia and Motorola led the design style. Third, the organizational structure of industrial production. In the production organization of modern manufacturing industry, contract manufacturers, mold manufacturers, design agents, etc. are relatively concentrated, and more than 70% of mobile phones are produced and manufactured in mainland China. It is not surprising that we learn from each other.

Back to vivo x6D.

In general, the overall design of vivo x6D has both inheritance and innovation. The style of this innovation seems to have changed more than that of previous iterations. It should be said that since the establishment of the three flagship product lines of X series, xshot series and xpaly series, vivo has maintained a relatively stable product style. The combination style of roundness and straightness, the product temperament of white tone, the corporate culture and product character of advocating the ultimate enjoyment and starting from light have been well maintained. But after x5pro, it may be to be in harmony with the design of 2.5D screen. The product has more "flexibility" than "rigidity"; The appearance of products is more "conformity" and less "individuality"; It looks more and more like an Apple phone, and its temperament has changed greatly. The color matching of x6D is to basically remove the traditional colors of the original white system and gray white system, and then pursue the popular color of color metal. Of course, this is my subjective opinion and feeling. As for the transformation of style, whether the original style and principle are adhered to or not depends on the brand strategy and consideration.

1. It is suggested that the camera should be designed with square corners to better coordinate with the overall style of the phone, and the position can also be designed with the axis, which will improve the product regularity.  

2. For the design of the headphone hole, due to the use of the rounded elevation, the thin body thickness and the circular tangent line, the appearance of the headphone hole is somewhat rough. I suggest that the frame elevation of subsequent products return to the original plane, increase the rigidity of the phone, and also make the location of the headphone hole more refined.
