According to the information disclosed by the Japanese website Mac Otakara, Apple seems to be developing a higher quality audio streaming format for Apple music services. The source revealed that Apple's new streaming media format will be named "Hi Res", which will make full use of the audio output capability of the Lighting interface, and its bit rate can reach 96kHz/24 bits.

Mac Otakara learned from some sources who participated in the Tokyo Portable Audio Festival that Apple's current plan is to launch this Hi Res high-quality streaming media format for Apple's music service next year.

In fact, Apple announced the audio specification of the Lightning interface as early as last year. The official launch of this specification means that manufacturers can try to design headphones connected to iOS devices through the Lightning interface, thus replacing the usual 3.5mm headphone jack. Up to now, Philips, JBL and some other manufacturers have launched similar products with Lightning interface headphones.

At the same time, it was also reported recently that Apple may completely abandon the traditional 3.5mm headphone interface in the next generation iPhone and output audio through the Lighting interface.
