[Computer Morning News] High risk vulnerabilities exist in 88% of Android devices with HTC all metal new phones

The press conference battle is about to start, HTC is the first to expose the new machine, and the price may return to the people friendly line. LeEco Mobile may once again adopt the dual period strategy, which can only be said to be rich and capricious. Samsung launched its second Tizen smartphone, the Z3, which costs only $130. Apple A7 chip infringes patents or is claimed more than 400 million dollars.

1. HTC all metal new machine exposure price is very high

Recently, HTC officially issued an invitation letter and will hold a new product launch on October 20. The protagonist should be the rumored HTC One A9. Many previous revelations indicate that the machine will be equipped with 2GB running memory, while the latest news shows that HTC One A9 also has a high configuration of 3GB running memory. In addition, compared with the previous HTC mobile phones, the A9 has made some adjustments in appearance. The front side of the A9 has no dual speakers, and the chin has also lost some. However, the logo at the bottom is a failure, which affects the proportion of screens. At the same time, the chin continues to be moving. As for the back of the One A9, it is very similar to the style of Apple's iPhone 6. No wonder some users will complain that HTC has started copying Apple.

2. LeEco mobile phone is crazy again

LeEco will release the second generation of LeEco super phone on October 27. At present, after the accumulation of the first generation, LeEco will break out completely. According to the internal information of the famous mobile phone informant upleaks, LeEco will release at least two flagship mobile phones (the word "flagship" has been played out), one of which is an upgraded version of the previous generation, and continues to use the all metal body, while the other is "quite amazing". According to the information, the second generation of LeEco super phone may be equipped with 5.7 inch 2K screen, 3+GB memory, 32GB starting storage, Sony 23 megapixel camera, and Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology. As for whether there is Snapdragon 820 or not, it seems unlikely at present, because Qualcomm will not make a large distribution of goods until the beginning of next year. Even if anyone now forcibly gets the first round, it can only be a gimmick.

3. Samsung releases the second Tizen smart phone Z3, which sells for $130

On the evening of October 14, it was reported that Samsung today released the second smart phone Z3 based on the Tizen operating system to further strengthen its own software ecosystem.

Z3 will be launched in India on October 21 at a price of 8490 Indian rupees (about 130.59 US dollars). This price is much higher than the first Tizen smartphone Z1, which costs only 5700 rupees. But compared with Z1, Z3 is equipped with a more powerful processor, a higher quality screen, and a higher pixel camera.

As the world's largest smartphone manufacturer, Samsung is trying to reduce its dependence on Google's Android operating system. Currently, Samsung Galaxy series flagship smartphones all use the Android platform. But in January this year, Samsung took the lead in releasing the first Tizen smartphone Z1 in India, and then in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

In addition to smart phones, Samsung also launched several other products based on the Tizen platform, such as the Gear S2 smart watch and several high-end televisions.

Samsung announced at the end of April this year that it would open its Tizen app store to 182 countries around the world. At that time, some analysts said that this meant that Samsung hoped to popularize Tizen mobile phones to more countries and regions. In June this year, it was reported that Samsung would launch several smart phones based on its own Tizen operating system later this year.

Analysts also pointed out that in order to strengthen the Tizen ecosystem, Samsung needs to attract more users to the Tizen platform, so that third-party developers will be willing to develop applications for Tizen.

Industry insiders said that the low price of Z3 helps Samsung attract more users in emerging markets such as India. According to Counterpoint Research, the research company, Z1 is Samsung's best-selling smartphone in the Indian market in the second quarter of this year.

4. Apple A7 chip infringes patent, American university claims 400 million dollars

The patent licensing department of the University of Wisconsin Madison in the United States accused Apple of infringing its microprocessor patent, hoping to claim 400 million dollars from the technology giant.

The court record shows that the lawyers of the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation told the jury that they calculated this figure after finding that Apple had infringed its patent. Apple lawyers said that Intel paid $110 million in settlement fees for the same patent in 2009, so the amount paid by the company should be much lower.

This patent granted in 1998 is related to how to improve the performance of processors. The Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation believes that Apple has used this patent in the A7 processor of the iPhone 5s and iPad. Another lawsuit filed in September accused Apple of using these inventions in the new iPhone.

5. Cambridge University reports that 88% of Android devices have high-risk vulnerabilities

Android phones are too large, and manufacturers generally conduct secondary development of Android system, so the security of Android ecosystem is lower than that of iOS. But specifically, how insecure are Android devices? According to the latest survey data from the University of Cambridge in the UK, about 87.7% of Android devices on the market are currently in an unsafe state, with at least one of 11 high-risk vulnerabilities.

The reason why Android devices have such a large scale of security risks is that Android device manufacturers do not update the product system in a timely manner, resulting in users being unable to apply Google's updates and repairs as soon as possible. Compared with the previous vulnerability, which widely exists in Android 5.0 and above phones, that is, through a few simple steps, you can bypass the lock screen password to enter the main screen. Although Google released a patch for this vulnerability in August, due to the excessive fragmentation, currently, except for Google's Nexus phones, other manufacturers' phones have not received the patch.

At present, Google's own "Nexus" Android smartphone has the highest security index, followed by LG, Motorola Mobile, Samsung Electronics, Sony, and HTC.

6. Sales ranking of domestic mobile phones in the third quarter: Huawei No.1 Xiaomi No.2

The statistics agency TrendForce has given the ranking of China's smartphone shipments and share, with Huawei ranking first and Xiaomi ranking second above Lenovo.

TrendForce said that Huawei's mobile phone shipments in the third quarter were higher than expected, and not only would it achieve the goal of 100 million shipments, but the final shipments might reach 110 million units. Compared with 2014, Huawei's annual shipments may increase by 40% this year.

With Hongmi Note2, Xiaomi 4c and the new heavy machine that is likely to come out at the end of the year, Xiaomi's shipments will increase by 14.6% this year.

In addition, TCL and OPPO also ranked in the top five, among which OPPO achieved a large growth in mobile phone shipments compared with last year, mainly due to offline channels.
