In recent years, Honda's creativity has been a trend of breaking through the sky. After putting forward their own plane, Honda Jet, they have come up with the idea of family backyard lawn. Yes, Honda has built a lawn mower. This harvester, named Mean Mower, was jointly built by Honda and Team Dynamics, the British BTCC champion partner, with the goal of building the fastest mower in the world. The speed here is not just mowing speed, but running speed.
Based on Honda's original HF2620 mower, this Mean Mower redesigned a lightweight chassis, and at the same time put a powerful Honda VTR Firestorm 1000cc engine into the mower body, so that this seemingly docile guy had 109 horsepower and a peak torque of 100Nm. What's more exaggerated is that the 100 km acceleration of this mower only takes 4 seconds, even 0.4 seconds faster than the 2014 Mercedes Benz S63 AMG. Of course, the premise is that you have to endure its 130 dB noise.
At the same time, the mowing effect will not be discounted. At the speed of 30km/h, two electric motors with 4000rpm drive 3mm mowing steel cables to cut grass, and the cut grass is sucked into the storage bag behind the vehicle. The overall working efficiency is twice that of the original HF2620.
Even Team Dynamics has built a whole set of sports seats, a paddle shift mechanism and a set of 6-speed gearbox, Scorpion exhaust system, and Morris Minor steering system for it. In short, all the kits are totally different from the mower.
According to Honda, this Mean Mower mower will not be mass produced, because the noise of 98 decibels is enough to make neighbors on the whole street complain about you when idling alone. However, for racing drivers, if they want to mow their own backyard in their spare time, this Mean Mower is indeed a rare artifact.
