Coolpad Grand View 4 is the first mobile phone to use NVIDIA Tegra 4. It is equipped with a 1.8GHz Tegra 4 processor and a high-end combination of 2G Ram. As for the performance of Tegra 4, we have previously tested the corresponding tablets and mobile phones, but how will Tegra 4 perform on Grand View 4?
Let's first understand the architecture of Tegra 4. Tegra 4 is a high-performance four core processor. The main architecture is four Cortex-A15 cores. The core version r2p2 is 1.8GHz~2.0GHz. In addition to the high-frequency quad core Cortex-A15 core, a low-frequency Cortex-A15 is also used as a "coprocessor". In terms of GPU, Tegra 4 also continues to use the unified rendering structure, but this time, the GPU specification of Tegra 4 has been expanded to 6 vertex units (FP32 24 cores), 4 3-deep pixel units (FP20 48 cores), and the total number of cores has reached 72, which is 6 times that of Tegra 3. Coolpad Grand View 4 uses Tegra 4 1.8GHz with AP40 model, which is also the SoC used on the common Tegra 4 mobile phones on the market.
Theoretical performance test
In terms of theoretical performance test, we still use some common CPU performance and GPU performance scoring applications to test the theoretical performance of Daguan 4
Antu rabbit evaluation
The total score of Antu Rabbit exceeds 30000, which is an excellent level ▼
Vellamo 2.0.2
An application launched by Qualcomm to test the performance of HTML5 on web pages. The website test score of Grand View 4 is close to 3000, and the Metal test score exceeds 1100, which shows excellent performance ▼

CPU General performance test
In addition to theoretical performance, we also pay attention to the general performance of CPU in daily applications. Coolpad Grand View 4 uses a quad core Cortex-A15 architecture processor, which is also the CPU architecture with the strongest general performance so far. We use web javascript, video software decoding, simulator and other test methods to test the general performance of Grand View 4.
Sunspider 1.0.2, This is a web page javascript performance test. Grand View 4 scored 533.9ms in this test (the lower the score, the better), and performed well ▼
Video software decoding is also an important test item to measure the general performance of CPU. This test item tests the multithreading performance of CPU, which is different from the video hard solution. It is a method to test the general computing power of CPU, and it will use multi-core processors. BSPlayer version 1.9.153 is used, and the video used is 1080P ref16 FPS60 MP4 video ▼
From the performance of video soft solution, Grand View 4 has played well, with an average frame number of 46 frames. In addition, when you turn on CPU frequency monitoring, you can observe that the CPU frequency can still be kept at 1.6 GHz after a minute and a half of video, and the ability to maintain high frequency is good.
Simulator test
Using the built-in Benchmark of GBA.emu (1.5.12), the test object is a 14KB bios.zip. This test can more accurately reflect the CPU's computing power, and the overall four frames is 154 ▼
Game frame number test
Game testing is the most intuitive way to measure GPU performance. We use mainstream large-scale games together with the frame number detection software FPS Meter to test the game performance of Daguan 4.

Video hardware decoding test
Video decoding capability is also an important standard for us to measure the performance of a mobile phone. It involves the DSP of SoC and the Neon performance of CPU. The Tegra series is consistent and strong in this respect. How does the Grand View 4 using Tegra 4 perform in video decoding?

The test results are as follows:
From the test results of the above videos, for most mainstream video formats, Grand View 4 can be said to be perfect support, while wmv requires software decoding. Surprisingly, 720P rmvb can support hardware decoding with its own browser. In addition, because of Tegra 4's powerful video decoding capability, 1440P and even 2160P videos can be perfectly hard decoded.
summary
From the above comprehensive tests on CPU, GPU and decoding performance, the performance of Daguan 4 basically meets our expectations, and the overall performance is commendable. Especially on the CPU side, the quad core Cortex-A15 core provides a good guarantee for the operation performance of Daguan 4. In terms of GPU, it is easy for the "72 core" Geforce ULP to play mainstream games. The decoding performance has been the strength of this series of chips since the era of Tegra3, which is also well reflected in Grand View 4. Most of the mainstream HD video formats can be hard decoded normally, and the decoding ability is satisfactory. In addition, Grand View 4 is relatively conservative in regulating the CPU frequency. If users want to give full play to their real performance, they can try to use third-party software to lock the CPU frequency (such applications require root, which will damage the warranty).
