Xiaomi released Xiaomi TV 3 and a balance car at the "Next Generation New Product" conference held in Beijing. The main selling point of the former is the separate design of the screen and the intelligent part, while the selling point of the latter is the price of 1999 yuan and the remote control of mobile phones. Before the specific evaluation, let's "preview" them with everyone in advance to see if they are fun and worth buying.
Xiaomi TV 3: The cost performance advantage is not obvious, and the split design grabs the limelight
In terms of appearance, Xiaomi TV 3 is similar to the previous generation, but upgraded to the same two-color anodized metal fuselage as Xiaomi TV 2s (the bottom of the bottom cover is still plastic). The thinnest part is 11.6 mm, the thickest part is 36.7 mm, and the total weight of the fuselage, including the base, is 21 kg.
For image quality, LG's 60 inch 4K panel (resolution 3840 * 2160), together with the side entry LED backlight jointly developed by Xiaomi/Ruiyi, supports 8-zone intelligent adjustment. 60Hz refresh rate, 1200:1 static contrast, 8 ms dynamic response, dynamic compensation is completed by 6M60 image processing chip.
If you can't understand the above drying parameters, you can directly compare them:
Millet has always been treated by Ruiyi for the LED backlight part that affects the black field, pure color uniformity and light leakage control. From the 2s of Xiaomi TV, Xiaomi began to develop its own backlight. This time, it became a joint research and development. From the backlight performance of Xiaomi TV 2s, it can be inferred that the backlight performance of Xiaomi TV 3 should not be too poor.
Although it is not as good as the lowest end 40 inch Xiaomi TV 2, its dynamic response speed still remains 8 milliseconds. If it is not used to play games that require high response, such as shooting, the actual impact is small.
However, the static contrast, which affects the image tolerance (the ability to see the details of bright and dark places at the same time), has significantly decreased compared with their own products (basically more than 4000:1 in the same family), but this is limited by the LG screen, and Xiaomi cannot control it. So don't worry about the exaggerated dark field and contrast performance on Xiaomi TV 2s
However, the highest and lowest brightness values and decoding chips have a great impact on the image quality. In terms of brightness, because the backlight module is close, the default/optimal brightness of Xiaomi TV 3 should still be a little higher than that of first tier brands such as Sony Samsung based on the performance of Xiaomi TV 2s. It may look a little more dazzling (yes, the higher the brightness of the TV, the better).
The decoding chip is responsible for arranging and outputting the image data. The image edge sharpness, color intensity/saturation, etc. seen at ordinary times are directly affected by the decoding chip. Xiaomi has solved the edge coding problem of primary color text on Xiaomi TV 2s. Xiaomi TV 3 is expected to perform well when displaying text content, but Xiaomi's color tuning style is more colorful. If the decoding chip changes little, the real machine will still have a sense of oil painting (the official website claims that it still uses the high-definition image quality engine of MACE-Pro4 UC+, which is unique to Star 6A928).
The performance part is exactly the same as that of Xiaomi TV 2s, which uses Mstar 6A928+2G DDR3 three channel memory+8G eMMC5.0 storage. The Mstar 6A928 is a four core 1.4GHz A17 architecture CPU+Mali-T760 MP4 four core GPU.
Its CPU and GPU are the same model as Ruixin Micro RK3288 launched in 14 years. The latter is mainly used on domestic flat plates, with the main frequency up to 1.8GHz. Although the A17 architecture has a large serial number, it is actually an improved version of A9. The same frequency performance is about 10% lower than that of A15. In addition, the main frequency is only 1.4GHz, and the computing performance is much weaker than that of the current mainstream flagship machines, the Snapdragon 810 and Samsung Exynos 7420. However, the castrated version of Android system used for running TV boxes is enough.
For GPU games, the performance of Mali-T760MP4 is weaker than that of iPhone5s and Snapdragon 801 models, and far worse than that of the current 810/7420/Apple A9. In addition, the resolution of the TV is up to 4K (the current flagship is also dragging 2K screens), and the game performance of Xiaomi TV 3 is not very good. Small and medium-sized games are OK, and large games must be prepared psychologically... Of course, it is not ruled out that the machine only outputs 1080P in the game, but there must be a sacrifice of clarity and fluency.
For the sound part, Xiaomi redesigned the Soundbar, which is available from Xiaomi TV 2. It has four 2.5 inch subwoofers+two 20 core tweeters, and has added the tuning of Luca Bignardi, the four time Grammy Award winner. It is almost certain that the effect of such stacking will be better than that of the ordinary TV with its own stereo. However, sound quality is a metaphysical thing. How much higher can it be than that of ordinary TV? These can only be confirmed by actual measurement, and there are not many blind comparisons here.
Split design
Compared with the conventional hardware upgrade, this split design is more creative. Xiaomi has made the screen and intelligent part, which cost the most, into an independent module. The intelligent part and all interfaces are concentrated on the sound. The two are connected through the "meter line" integrating the power line and signal line.
In this way, the performance part can be upgraded and replaced separately from the screen, greatly reducing the upgrade/replacement/maintenance cost of the smart TV, and perhaps also accelerating everyone's upgrade speed (squint).
Price and cost performance analysis
Xiaomi TV 3 is Xiaomi's first 60 inch TV, priced at 4999 yuan, 500 yuan cheaper than the bare metal 55 inch Xiaomi TV 2 (4499 yuan). It is the same as the theater version of Xiaomi TV 2, which is a 55 inch 4K version, but the latter has an additional subwoofer that can be purchased independently now and is worth 599 yuan.
Xiaomi TV 3 is an ordinary TV+TV box with speakers. The latter can be used on other TVs. It costs 999 yuan for independent sales. This is one of the biggest black spots in the whole conference. You know, the price of the whole set of Xiaomi speakers on Xiaomi TV 2, including subwoofer, is only 500 yuan, and the price of this "TV box" part has risen to more than 500 yuan in disguised form. For 1000 yuan to buy a TV box with speakers, it is estimated that the average person would also refuse
The screen part cannot be sold independently because of the need to connect speakers with "rice lines", so we will not see the "non intelligent TV" of Xiaomi, which costs 3999 yuan. More aristocratic is that even the subwoofer is now sold independently at a price of 599 yuan. Xiaomi proved what is called "breaking through everyone's psychological bottom line" by taking action again.
This split design also hides the meaning of bundled sales: before, independent speakers were optional components, and their sales were not good. This time, when the intelligent part was bundled in, everyone would be reluctant to buy it, and improve the sales of speakers perfectly (again, squint).
No. 9 balance car: geek/new rice noodle toys
After setting foot in the intelligent hardware industry, Xiaomi was jokingly called a department store. This time, even the balance car came. However, it comes from the fact that Xiaomi acquired the brand of "Nine Bote" balance car in April, which is similar to Xiaomi mobile, smart camera, water purifier, purifier and other products. Xiaomi is just a "OEM" and sales platform.
The No. 9 balance car weighs 12.8kg, has a dual motor power of 700w (nearly 1 horsepower), a maximum speed of 16km/h, can climb a 15 degree slope, and can walk 22 kilometers with a single charge. The direction of the machine is controlled by the legs, which can be selected in situ and remotely controlled by mobile phones. The price is 1999 yuan. The full set of protective equipment was 169 yuan, which was launched on the official website on November 3.
Balanced cars may be unfamiliar to everyone, but they can generally be divided into single wheel and double wheel, and the latter can be divided into handle and no handle. The No. 9 balance car with two wheels but no handle is a type of car whose cost is sandwiched in the middle. There are relatively few similar products in the market now, and there are fewer products that can be remotely controlled by mobile phones like the No. 9 balance car.
But what I want to tell you is that although the machine has a 22 km endurance, it is positioned as a convenient means of transportation to take the subway and bus. It deals with the path from the subway/bus station to the company/home. If you want to use it to run 4 or 5 kilometers in a row, it is unrealistic. For one thing, it is slow, and for another, it is tired. You can stand for 2 or 30 minutes on your own, but you can only move your legs
In addition, the 12.5kg deadweight has given up the sister paper market in a disguised way, and it is unrealistic for the sister paper to carry the weight of more than half a carton of cola everywhere. Even if you can use your mobile phone to remotely control its own way, after all, this is a huge remote control car with nearly 1 horsepower and a weight of 12.5 kg. It is still a bit dangerous when crossing the road or there are children nearby
On a treasure, many unicycles are still selling bravely for more than 2000 yuan. The price of the No. 9 balance car designed with two wheels is set at 1999 yuan. In addition to the name of Xiaomi, it has obvious competitive advantages. It is still meaningful to promote balance cars as a means of transportation. Users who like to taste new things can also experience it with their hands.
