Experience evaluation of Meizu MX3
Experience evaluation of Meizu MX3

The big screen mobile phone Meizu MX3, which claims to be better to use, has been on the market for a long time, with its special gold 1080P screen, the 8 million camera "today is not what it used to be", the unique Flyme OS, and exquisite workmanship. Meizu MX3 makes people talk about it both in software and hardware, but what about the real experience?

In terms of hardware configuration, Meizu MX3 can even be regarded as a special version of Samsung Galaxy S4, which is just a joke of course. Its special gold 1080P screen and Flyme OS 3.0 are our main concerns.

Design and feel:

In my opinion, Meizu is one of the domestic manufacturers that pays more attention to design and industrial design. MX3 continues the design language of MX2, and can even be said to be an enlarged version. First of all, its front 5.1 inch screen and 2.9 mm frame make the visual effect very good, which is similar to LG G2 in this regard. However, what is less impressive is that compared with the left and right narrow borders, the MX3 has a wider forehead and chin, but it is much better than the HTC Butterfly S's long face.

In terms of grip feel, the MX3 has a width of 71.9mm. In addition to the arc design of the back cover, it fits the palm very well. It can be said that it has the best grip feeling among the mobile phones it has ever touched. Similar to HTC Butterfly S, the MX3 is slightly better.

MX3 has only three physical keys: volume key and power key, and no shutter key is set. The solid keys, like the MX2, are made of transparent materials, giving a strong sense of confirmation. The power key is designed at the top, so you need to move your fingers to reach it when you use it. It is not designed to be handy on the left and right.

The back of Meizu MX3 is detachable, but the battery cannot be replaced. This setting makes many people spurn it. According to Meizu engineers, this is because the battery used by the MX3 needs to be designed like this. Although this setting is really annoying, the MX3's back cover fits perfectly. However, the back cover of the models with similar settings that have been contacted before is loose, so once this setting is accepted, it is still lovely. In short, the detachable back cover will not cause discomfort in use.

After removing the back cover, there are strange openings on both sides of the camera, which should be part of its cooling system. However, there is no corresponding opening on the back cover. Is this cooling setting really meaningful?

Although the detachable cup cover of MX3 will not cause any problem in the hand, it is certain to hide dirt and accept dirt. During a short period of use, there has been a lot of dust around, which is unforgivable for students with obsessive-compulsive disorder.

The screen displays:

Meizu MX3 uses a 5.1 inch Sharp screen, so there is no need to say more about screen display. This screen is first-class in terms of color reproduction, visual angle and permeability. Compared with Samsung's gaudy screen and Sony's white and yellow screen, MX3 is a visual experience that has progressed by leaps and bounds. (like me)

The only problem with Meizu MX3's screen is that the mirror effect may be serious in some cases. The 2048 brightness claimed by the company is gradually changed level by level under the condition of automatic adjustment, and it will feel slow in vision and experience.

When it comes to the Meizu MX3 screen, its golden resolution is 1800 * 1080. Four screenshots are used to show that the models are SmartBar compatible, SmartBar incompatible, physical keyboard and virtual key. Except for the first model, the other models are the same version.

From the four comparison screenshots, we can see that more information can be browsed after the SmartBar is adapted. Even if the SmartBar is not adapted, more information can be browsed than the other two types of information. In short, the gold 1080P makes the information that can be browsed more, but it will be slightly longer in the visual sense.

System UI:

The Meizu MX3 system, namely Flyme OS, is a system worthy of capital close ups. It is quite unique and pleasing in terms of its aesthetic level, content with creation or ideas in all aspects. In terms of ease of use and completion, it is inferior to other domestic manufacturers' own OSes, let alone MIUI.

Flyme OS is designed without a desktop. Like iOS, it places all apps on the desktop. What's interesting is that besides being able to turn left and right pages, it can also turn up and down pages. For users who are addicted to cleanliness, such as me, it can be placed directly in one page. However, Flyme OS Brain Disability is set to have at least three pages on the desktop, which is not allowed to be changed. This is a serious challenge to patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder.

The setting of the top bar is not very different from that of native Android, only the adjustment of the position has little impact. The drop-down bar has five switch shortcuts, which can only be used to adjust the position. Some functions can also be selected and placed, such as VPN, NFC and network sharing. There is also a list switch on the upper right, which allows you to directly select wifi and network systems. It is easy to use.

In Flyme OS, the sidebar is the main element, appearing in a large number of contacts, file managers, music, etc. However, in other system software, such as SMS, notes, and sketchpad, there is another design, which may be caused by different functions.

When it comes to Meizu's system, we must talk about the SmartBar. I think SmartBar is the development form of virtual keys in the future Android system, but for now, it can only be a semi-finished product. In Flyme OS system software, SmartBar support is in place (nonsense) However, SmartBar is really facing most of the third-party apps on the market. Although there are many software that are compatible with the special version launched by SmartBar, the update speed is slow. Third party manufacturers are not very sure about SmarBar, for example, the performance of Alipay's SmartBar in the above figure is ugly.

As far as compatibility is concerned, there is no problem with my daily apps, except that Hangouts can't select facial expressions.

The various operations of the Home key are also an important part of Flyme OS. In addition to returning to the home page, the Home key can also be used to press the lock screen for a long time and slide on the lock screen to unlock. The task manager is opened by drawing up from both sides of the Home key. This setting is different from the usage habits of most people. In terms of operation success rate, the Home key unlocking and task manager operations can only be said to be average or even low, and these two operations have a considerable impact on daily use.

Flyme OS has made extremely detailed and targeted system functions to solve the problem that it is too absurd for domestic software to ask for permission. Direct system level control of startup and notification push, as well as the most important application permission control. This function is really great.

However, Flyme OS has many small details that are strange or even surprising. For example, when playing music, click the sound effect setting to automatically stop playing, the ringtone must be placed in a special folder to use, and the developer option must input hidden code. Although these may be based on security or humanization, it is such settings and many potential operations that make Flyme OS very difficult to get started, and users who transfer from other systems are even more confused.

In general, Flyme OS is a beautiful UI, but it is still lacking in details and stability.

Shooting ability:

When 13 million pixels have become the standard configuration of flagship Android phones, MX3 still continues the 8 million pixels of MX2, which uses 8 million Sony backlight, IMX179 light-sensitive chips, 1.4 μ m light-sensitive pixels and various technical terms. Pixels do not mean good picture quality. HTC's 4 million pixel UltraPixel is a good proof, but what about Meizu's 8 million pixels?

The MX3's photo interface is quite simple, and the optional settings are quite few. As an Adnroid phone, it is quite rare. Generally, the fewer settings, the more confident the manufacturer is in its optimization. However, it needs to be said that MX3 can't adjust the photo comparison. It's always 4:3 and can't take full view on the screen.

In actual use, Meizu MX3's film production rate is quite good, but only under the condition of sufficient light. This is mainly due to the lack of many settable things, such as the average or point cannot be selected for metering, and the focus can only be focused by touch. These two aspects of light have greatly affected the effect of night shooting. As shown in the figure above, the night shooting can be seen from different focus shooting, and the photometric system can significantly affect the photo quality.

Although shooting at night, MX3 performance is average, but our daily light is good. The details and color reproduction of eel sushi and salmon sushi shown above are quite good. But again, the white balance drift of MX3 is quite exaggerated. Compared with the white balance of three pieces of sushi, under the same position and light source, there are three kinds of white balance effects.

MX3 seems to be quite annoying in the big red color block, which is very easy to overflow. In the NB580 series in the figure, the details of the red pair are basically lost after being magnified, and the same situation occurs in the salmon sushi above.

In the backlight, the MX3's performance is particularly powerful. As shown in the above figure, the transition is quite natural, and the glare control is also excellent. In general, the MX3 camera has both good and bad performance. It performs well in resolution and color restoration, but all kinds of small problems are relatively prominent, but it can meet the needs of daily photography.

However, the shooting interface of MX3 is simple and simple, and its automatic performance is not very good. The overall strength can only be the mid tier level of Android smartphones.

Performance and endurance:

(The score may vary according to the evaluation environment, for reference only)

Meizu MX3 and Samsung Galaxy S4 use the same SoC, which is the 4+4 core Samsung Exynos 5410. It is also a quad core Cortex-A15 1.6GHz and quad core Cortex-A7 1.2GHz large and small core structure, equipped with PowerVR SGX544MP3. The MX3 is not superior in performance in the case that the flagship is the Snapdragon 800.

Although the hardware configuration of Meizu MX3 and Samsung Galaxy S4 is almost the same, the optimization of MX3 is far less than that of Galaxy S4. In addition to the animation transition effect of Flyme OS itself, the bug will appear or the problem will get stuck after a long time of running. The problem can basically reappear after 50 hours of continuous running.

In terms of endurance, Meizu MX3 has a 2400mAh non removable battery, which has average endurance. According to my usage, as a spare tire machine, a day's phone calls and text messages are generally the same, and the endurance is about 3 days. As the main machine, it can be connected to 3G and wifi all day long, and it can arrive at home at about 8:00 to get on the base safely.

Signal and Fever:

The above figure shows that the signal of Meizu MX3 is not bad indoors, by the window and in the subway, and there are no strange signal problems in actual calls.

In terms of temperature, the Meizu MX3 has been running for half an hour after the wild drag racing 8. Due to the metal frame, the upper half of the fuselage gradually heats up. The maximum temperature is 44 ° on the left and right sides of the camera, and the metal frame is about 35 °. The performance is normal, but the metal frame is relatively hot, and people are impressed with the experience. So the metal frame has its advantages and disadvantages.

other:

The back cover of MX3 is different from that of MX2 in technology, but the visual effect is not too bad. But the back cover is not resistant to dirt, and it will be dirty soon after use.

The synchronization of Flyeme is very powerful. One account can synchronize most of the information of the whole mobile phone, including wifi, clock, input method, browser, SMS and contacts.

MX3 seems to think that the Home key is insufficient. When the screen is opened, the Home key will light up and the screen will be opened again. However, this kind of situation that the Home key lights up first and then responds exists in the whole system, so it will give people a sense of delay. Similar to that, SmartBar will show the app first.

Summary:

In terms of shape design and material workmanship, Meizu MX3 can be said to be the best one among domestic manufacturers. The 2.9mm narrow frame and the metal middle frame make the MX3 look very good visually. While the back cover of MX3 is detachable, which has been complained about by Wannian, the handle and good workmanship are enough to ignore.

In terms of software and hardware, Meizu MX3 is a bit disappointing. The Exynos 5410 used by the MX3 is a bit inferior to the flagship water Snapdragon 800 on the market, but it is not necessarily better than Samsung in optimization. In the same way, I think Flyme OS is the best in the domestic OS in terms of aesthetics, but the tragic completion and details are not enough to be proud of, let alone the camera system that makes people less interested.

In general, Meizu MX3 is a conventional upgrade of MX2, which is probably similar to the difference between Samsung Galaxy S3 and S4, but it came on stage a little late. As far as I am concerned, Meizu MX3 can only be regarded as a mid-range model of Android and a heterodox boutique among domestic mobile phones.
