OPPO is mainly divided into three series: the flagship Find series, the N series focusing on high-performance photography, and the R series focusing on thin and light photography. OPPO has invested a lot of energy in the R series this year. In addition to the familiar advertising words such as "charging for five minutes and talking for two hours", this generation of R7 has also derived two series of models, the flagship R7 Plus with a 6-inch large screen and the R7s just launched.
The R7s evaluated this time, whether in terms of screen size, photography, performance or price positioning, are all targeted at the gap between R7 and R7 Plus. With a higher screen share, a larger battery, and a larger memory addition, how can it perform?

Appearance and workmanship
The package is very solid, and the appearance is highly consistent with that of R7 Plus. On the side of the white package is OPPO's brand green, and the All Netcom version is also marked with a distinctive All Netcom logo.
The accessories are still very rich, including the manual warranty, flash charging plug, data cable, headset, and OPPO's traditional conscientious officer's silicone cover.

The charger specification is furious 5V/4A, and the charging power is much higher than the common Qualcomm Fast Charge 2.0.
The R7s appearance incorporates many R7 Plus elements, making the body more robust. After the frame is narrowed, the screen proportion and face value are much higher.
The contrast between the back of the fuselage and R7 is little changed, but rose gold color is added. The only noteworthy change is that the sanding particle size of the fuselage metal is smaller than before, and the handle is more delicate.

Because the touch buttons have been replaced by virtual buttons, the chin, like the R7 Plus, has become OPPO's silver logo.

The top is a noise reducing microphone and headphone connector, and the antenna partition strip on the top is ingeniously integrated into the headphone connector.
The back speaker on R7/R7 Plus has been moved to the bottom. In the symmetrical mesh on the left and right, the left side is the speaker, and the right side is the microphone. The two antenna partition strips are closely connected with the fuselage, and the workmanship is still familiar to OPPO.
On the right side of the fuselage are the sim card slot and the power key. The and or card slot is made of all metal materials. You can insert a mirco SIM card and nano SIM card, or a mirco SIM card+TF card at the same time.
The R7s fiddle elegant arc can see delicate metal reflection at the rear of the side. This metal groove improves the side appearance and anti slip performance, but still has a certain cutting feel.

Screen performance
Under the 2.5D fourth generation Corning gorilla glass of R7s, there is a 5.5 inch 1080P AMOLED screen, 400 PPI, and the official standard brightness is about 320 nits. AMOLED screens are thin and light, and can be truly all black. They can provide nearly unlimited contrast, but they tend to be oversaturated.
We found the R7, R7 Plus and Meizu MX5 with the same screen parameters as R7s for comparison. They are all 1080P resolution AMOLED screens, of which R7s and MX5 are 5.5 inches, R7 is 5 inches, and R7 Plus is 6 inches.
The measured R7s screen brightness is the highest among the three A-screen devices, about 362 nits, higher than the official nominal and MX5, followed by R7 Plus and R7.
The uniform 100% brightness shows white. The performance of OPPO's three machines is similar. The color temperature is higher than the MX5's big yellow screen, and like the iPhone, it is slightly red, which is flattering.
The performance of three primary colors: the blue-green color of the MX5 is prominent and has obvious oversaturation, while R7 is relatively oversaturated in red and blue, and R7s and R7 Plus are similar.
When displaying color pictures, the MX5 is obviously yellow and green (serious enough to be perceived by the naked eye even without contrast), R7 has a slight yellow and green tendency, and R7s and R7 Plus perform better. Among them, because the base brightness is higher, R7s also shows a higher contrast in the sunset proof, which can effectively show the dark details of the scene.

From the visual angle, the performance of the four A-screen machines is good, but there is a certain degree of color deviation in the extreme position. In the previous evaluation, the screen performance of the R7 Plus is quite good, which has largely corrected the problem of oversaturation of the A screen. The screen performance of the R7s is basically on the same level as that of the R7 Plus, and their color accuracy is no less than that of the MX5's large yellow screen. In addition to the fact that row P of screen A will lead to a decrease in fineness, its performance will definitely be one of the bonus items of the machine.
System UI
The all Netcom version of R7s is equipped with ColorOS 2.1 based on Android 5.1. The overall system and R7 Plus are not very different.

On the left side of the R7S home page is the resident music playing page. The secondary menu is canceled on the desktop, and all application icons are displayed directly. Despite aesthetic issues, this flat pseudo object style icon is also very recognizable in domestic ROMs. In order to match the characteristics of the AMOLED screen, the system default wallpaper is mainly dark, while the system menu is a common white background.
OPPO's traditional black screen gesture, double click on the bright screen, and double click on the home key to lock the screen are all available, and the new global flash shooting function is added (at the same time, click the volume up and down keys to complete the shooting).
The pull-down bar has ground glass effect, and supports two-level pull-down. The second pull-down allows you to see the shortcut button of 15 squares. The task manager supports the pull-down lock task and one click cleaning function, which basically continues the operation habit of ColorOS 2.0 and is easy to use.
The system retains the traditional setting button. Long press Home to call up the card type task manager. In the era of Android 5.0, few manufacturers still adhere to this design. In addition, it is worth mentioning that OPPO's Confirm button is placed on the left, which is also an important feature of OPPO.
In the built-in applications of the machine, the large screen has basically been optimized. The setting menu and many function buttons have been uniformly moved to the bottom of the screen. Even the 5.5 inch screen is still easy to use.

The mobile R7s is equipped with MediaTek's MT6752, while the All Netcom version is equipped with Snapdragon 615, which is 4 * 1.0GHz+4 * 1.5GHz A53 architecture CPU+Adreno 405 GPU. We find ZenFone Selfie, the same as Snapdragon 615, and R7 Plus, the mobile version of MT6595, for comparison.
The R7s CPU control mechanism is quite bold and unconstrained. Even in the default mode, the Snapdragon 615 can always be fully opened with 8 cores, and the high-frequency core can often reach the highest frequency. It is much more radical than the nut cell phone that locks two large cores all the year round and often runs low frequency. It can be predicted that its performance will be much better than the former.

It is also expected that the CPU and GPU performance of the two Snapdragon 615 models will be lower than that of the MT6795 at a higher level. However, the R7s performance in each project will be higher than that of Selfie at the same level, which is unexpected. You should know that the latter is also a model with good performance in Xiaolong 615, and they can crush the nut mobile phones that are also Xiaolong 615 in terms of smoothness.
In terms of flash memory reading, which affects the loading speed of applications and games, the writing speed of R7s is faster than that of R7 Plus, and the reading speed is quite close. In addition, the rare 3/4G memory of mid tier models directly leads to the multi task performance switching performance of R7s, which can surpass many old flagship Snapdragon 801 with 2G memory.
Although it is still Snapdragon 615, OPPO has given it a rather radical core scheduling. If nothing happens, this is the strongest dragon 615.

R7s adopts a front 8 megapixel camera with an aperture of f2.4 and a wide angle of 84 degrees, while the rear 13 megapixel camera with an aperture of f2.2 has no official indication of its sensor model.
The photo interface is not different from R7 and R7 Plus. The main interface is simple, but the additional functions are very rich. You can add various functions such as extreme beauty, GIF animation, and slow shutter in the official "camera store".
The professional mode favored by computer operators is also available, which supports metering and focusing separation, shutter, ISO, white balance and focusing control. In actual use, the focusing speed and precision of the machine are acceptable, even in ultra weak light, and the synthetic speed of imaging and HDR is in line.

In terms of photo style, the R7s is slightly warm and yellow, and the photometric sensitivity and accuracy are good. Compared with the daytime standard, its performance under weak light is relatively better. The photometry is very close to the naked eye, and the details of the sample are kept in place. Compared with R7, the improvement is obvious.

The 25 million pixel sample (5824 * 4368) can be generated after the ultra clear mode is turned on. Although the white balance may be shifted, the discrimination will be significantly improved, and the group photo scenes that need high pixels are worth turning on.

The HDR effect is relatively harmonious, which can completely show the dark details, and there is no discoloration and ghost phenomenon.
The actual angle of the panoramic mode is about 240 degrees, which can generate 19.4 million pixels (7840 * 2480) of samples. The scene deformation control is OK, the stitching trace is very slight, the discrimination remains relatively complete, and the synthesis speed is extremely fast, and the availability is very high. This is worthy of praise.
Endurance&fever
The R7s battery capacity is 3070mAh, which is the standard size of 5.5 inch models. However, OPPO's regulation of Snapdragon 615 is more aggressive. Although it can squeeze out higher performance, it can not help worrying about its endurance performance.
However, the measured results are very impressive. The results of the high-intensity endurance test even exceed the normal Snapdragon 615. In addition, the power consumption of the Internet link is only 5%, second only to the R7 Plus with 4100mAh batteries, and the performance is quite excellent.
Use the telecom card for standby everyday, keep wifi on, and power down is about 3% after 8 hours of standby. The battery is very durable in daily use. It is not a problem if it is severe for one day and mild for two or three days. With the addition of VOOC flash charge, there is no need to worry about the endurance of the machine.
After 30 minutes of running a large game at a room temperature of 30 degrees, the maximum temperature on the front is 39.9 degrees, and the maximum temperature on the back is 39.5 degrees. The heat is concentrated on the lower left of the receiver (which should be the CPU). The heat control is OK, not less than the flagship model, but the all metal body will still make people feel hot.

As you can see, R7s is the upgrade of R7: it combines the appearance of R7 and R7 Plus elements, and can basically maintain the same screen performance as R7 Plus, true and full blooded Snapdragon 615 tuning, improved night shooting ability, and improved obvious endurance performance, all of which are fully worthy of the name "s".
Because of the experience accumulated in the previous two works, R7s fills some regrets of R7 and R7 Plus in industrial design. For ordinary users, R7s sets the screen size between 5 inches and 6 inches, which is also a more pleasing setting. Compared with R7, the price difference is only 100 yuan, which makes the upgrade of R7s quite conscientious.
