Kite mosquito patch can disturb the carbon dioxide breath emitted by human body, making mosquitoes unable to find their targets. The British are bathed in the rare warm sunshine in July these days, but for those who find themselves unlucky to become mosquito targets, they have to slightly restrain their desire to expose their skin. Now a technology company in California has announced that it has found a solution - sticking a patch can "hide" and make mosquitoes "turn a blind eye" to you. Kite patch uses non-toxic compounds to destroy the ability of mosquitoes to find people through carbon dioxide, and the aging lasts for 48 hours.

Olfactor Laboratories and the University of California at Riverside developed this technology with the support of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (its founders are Microsoft founder Bill Gates and his wife Melinda Gates. The foundation is non-profit and aims to promote equality in global health and education) and the National Institutes of Health.

For most Britons, mosquito bites are unpleasant, causing itching or infection. However, for the people of developing countries, the consequences are much more serious. According to data released by WHO, 660000 people died of malaria transmitted by mosquitoes and flies in 2010. The research report published last year shows that this number has nearly doubled to 1.2 million. It is unlikely to reach the goal set by the United Nations to eliminate malaria by 2015.

The hardest hit areas of disease are located in central and western Africa. The majority of deaths from malaria are among children, and a fifth of them are between the ages of 15 and 49. Indiegogo, a fund-raising website, is launching a campaign to raise 75000 US dollars (460000 yuan) to send 20000 Kite patches to Uganda for large-scale trial. The local malaria prevalence rate is more than 60%. Torrey Tayenaka, co-founder of Kite, said: "On average, one child dies of malaria every minute. Active mosquito control measures prevent people from facing separation and death."

Kite mosquito patches can help prevent the spread of malaria, which kills millions of people every year. For only 35 dollars, donors can send 10 patches to Uganda, and they can receive 10 patches themselves. The patch is durable and the price is moderate. It can be glued to bags, strollers or other places that need protection. Michelle Brown, vice president and chief scientist of Olfactor Laboratories, said, "Kite mosquito patch is more effective than all mosquito repellent products on the market, and people can live a normal life away from mosquito and fly borne diseases under its protection."
