Apple has obtained new patents for augmented reality technology, which will be applied to Apple's mobile phones and other devices. The patent enables mobile or other devices to display data information related to a target object when pointing to it. Apple described the patent as "synchronous and interactive multi-function device augmented reality display technology".
Apple also cited an example in the patent application: a user pointed the camera of a device at the computer circuit board, so the components on the circuit board were captured and played by the camera in real time. However, the content played did not only include the screen of the circuit board, but also the information related to each component was displayed in the real-time screen.
This patent is similar to Google Glass, Nokia City Lens and other technologies for increasing reality display, but Apple also provides interactivity. Although Apple's new patent uses smart phones as demonstration examples, the company also clearly pointed out in its application documents that many devices, including PCs, tablets, game consoles and multimedia players, are suitable for this technology.
