NEWIFI 2 is the third smart router of newbd (Lenovo). I was lucky to participate in the test of the first generation (newifi Y1S). This time, I took part in the test of newifi 2 again, and I still felt a lot.

      1、 Unpacking:

To be honest, I thought I received Xiaomi's products at the first sight when I got them. The packaging is very Xiaomi style. The front is simple NEWIFI LOGO, and the back is some parameters, LGOGO of product partners, QR code, serial number, etc. Again, I really want Xiaomi's product packaging.

Compared with the generation of packaging, it has changed a lot, but it is much smaller. The size of the first and second generation routers is not very different, but it may be because the first generation is an external antenna, so the packaging box is much larger.

When we opened the box, the new router was half hidden in front of us.

    The configuration inside the entire box is very simple. The main body of the router is equipped with a power adapter, warranty card and product manual. There is no network cable that would be included in the router before (but it seems that there is no network cable included in the current smart router).

The front of the NEWIFI 2 can't find anything except the LOGO. It's very simple, and there is no indicator light or anything like that.

The lower part of the back is similar to the lower part of the back of the packaging box, and the other parts are densely scattered. I didn't notice the LED display light at the bottom at first, but I found the indicator light when I connected the power supply, which is also to make the appearance simple.

The introduction of NEWIFI 2 is a built-in antenna. In fact, I think it is an external antenna, but two antennas are built in one plane. From the back, we can see the words 2.4G&5G WIFI, indicating that NEWIFI 2 supports dual band. The interface on the back has a power socket, a WAN interface, two gigabit LAN interfaces, and two USB interfaces. Look at a lot of photos taken online, blue The USB1 hardware supports USB3.0, but in order not to interfere with the 2.4G signal, the official software lets it work in the USB2.0 mode. The official forum has a way to open USB3.0 provided by the folk god. However, I personally suggest not to open it. After all, it really interferes with the 2.4G signal.

Because the configuration of NEWIFI 2 is relatively high, with gigabit dual core+256MB DDR3, its power adapter can not be powered by USB like the one I have, and its power adapter is 12V-2A, which is stronger than the 12V-1.5V of Xiaomi router (1TB).

There is a "tear invalid" sticker on the side of the NEWIFI 2. This is where the 8G TF card attached to the machine is located. I feel that I have no conscience. If I replace it myself, I will lose the warranty. Moreover, it is not good enough for the user not to choose by himself. After all, this cost is added to the user's head.

Compared with its big brother NEWIFI 1, NEWIFI 2 personally prefers the first generation. Although the front is not so simple, all kinds of indicators can clearly see the working status of the router. The Ruyi Cloud LOGO in the front center is also beautiful. Of course, different people have different opinions on this. Compared with NEWIFI 1, the interface of NEWIFI 2 is also much simpler, from four LAN ports to two LAN ports, but the number of gigabit ports has not changed, and the number of USB interfaces has been reduced from three to two. Although the number of interfaces has been reduced, the configuration has been strengthened, and the reduced interfaces are not so necessary for today's users, which is worth affirming.

2、 Use feeling

Connect the NEWIFI 2 to the power supply. When the LED at the bottom of the router turns blue, turn on the phone and you can see NEWIFI_XXX and The WIFI signal source of NEWIFI_XXX_5G has no password.

Connect one of the WIFI signal sources, and the phone will The configuration interface will pop up automatically. Follow the prompts to complete the router configuration step by step. The operation is very simple. However, when I finally downloaded the mobile app, I clicked it many times but didn't respond. Finally, I downloaded it from the Internet and installed it on my mobile phone.

The computer WEB management page also provides quite a lot of functions. Below you can see the VIP members of Sohu video that many of us expect. After entering, you can bind them. Here, it should be noted that VIP members are given away day by day. One day (16 hours) after the router is online, VIP members will be given away for another day.

Here we need to explain the advanced settings of NEWIFI 2. To be honest, this interface is not flattering. Maybe this advanced setting is also for geeks...... I hope this interface will be more practical and friendly in future firmware.

As an intelligent router, NEWIFI 2 provides a lot of plug-ins, and can install third-party plug-ins locally. The official plug-in does not provide advertising shielding (especially video advertising shielding), which I am not very satisfied with personally (it should also be due to copyright and cooperation with video websites like Sohu), But I think there should be third-party plug-ins for us to choose from.

The use of mobile APP is also very simple. After installation and opening, it will provide input of JD account for binding (JD is also a partner after all). The router binding is completed step by step according to the prompt.

The main interface of the router is also very simple. On the top is the real-time rate used by the current network. There is a one button optimization button next to it. In the middle is the information push similar to the Android system. Below is the switch label.

The video column is directly connected to the Sohu video. Here we can download the video provided on the Sohu video to the router with one click, and then connect to the router through mobile phones, PADs and other devices to watch. Of course, the file column is to see the file on the router.

Fourth, there are some basic functions provided in "I", but I think the plug-in column is mixed.

This interface can't be used to add plug-ins. It's really a combination. I hope it can be improved in future versions.

Finally, I would like to say that many people should be concerned about the signal situation. For my use in the past two days, the 5G signal is really waste material. After a wall, there is no signal, which is much worse than the Xiaomi route (1TB) used at home. The 2.4G signal is not bad. There is still a signal across two walls, but there is still a gap between Ji1S and Xiaomi. It seems that the powerful configuration does not bring strong signal coverage. To be honest, I am disappointed. Nowadays, there are more and more devices supporting 5G, but 5G can only cover one room. I hope that the official can improve this in future versions, so as to give full play to the powerful configuration. (However, it is unknown that the weak signal has little to do with the antenna design)
