Tail was lucky to participate in the public test of new glass smart glasses organized by Lenovo NBD through Lefeng 100, and experienced the cool smart glasses products in China for the first time. Here, I would like to thank Lei Feng and Lenovo NBD community for their opportunities.

From the current perspective, smart glasses are wearable smart devices with high technology content, and they are also products with a long way to go. In order to fulfill the rare responsibility of public beta, Tail summarized the experience for the first time with three articles, namely, unpacking guide, experience and suggestion.

To be clear, Tail is just a fan of cutting-edge digital technology, without professional optics or development technology. Therefore, the starting point and focus of this article are the feelings and evaluations of ordinary users when using the new glass, and the introduction of the entire operating system by the way, without in-depth technical discussion. After all, ordinary users generally don't care about technical issues. What do they care about? What can I do? How does it work?

Of course, experience related design is also related to hardware. First, the tail lists the overall parameters of the new glass as follows, which is more convenient for the audience to read and understand. ▼

[How about the first start experience?]

As a tall wearable smart device, the new glass smart glasses are also different from other products when used for the first time. They need to be "activated" twice. The first activation is to "charge activation" before starting the machine to remove the transportation mode; The second activation is "account activation" when networking. The general process is to scan the QR code and download the glasses steward APP. After registration and login, connect to WiFi, generate the activation QR code, and then scan the glasses to activate the device. After two activations, the cool journey begins. ▼

Experience review : Transport mode is very common in cars. The purpose of using transport mode in digital products should also be to save power and prevent battery loss. It can be seen that Lenovo NBD has fully considered the details. In the process of account activation, although it is necessary to switch back and forth between the phone and the glasses for several times new glass There are image and text prompts throughout the whole process APP There are also short videos, which are not complicated, not to mention the excitement of first acquaintance. However, the glasses steward APP To optimize mobile phone adaptation, there is a problem that the application interface does not fit the screen size in the registration procedure.

[Mobile terminal APP What is the interactive experience of?]

It can be seen from the front that the new glass is inextricably linked to the eyeglass butler app on the mobile phone. They are connected via Bluetooth. From the app, you can query eyeglass status, Wifi connection, Bluetooth connection and other content. After adding contacts on the contact page, they will automatically upload to eyeglasses and send SMS. ▼

In the setting interface, you can change your personal information settings. At the same time, you can bind Baidu Cloud Disk and Weibo, so that images and videos taken by new glass can be synchronously updated to Baidu Cloud Disk, or you can directly share them on Weibo. The beautiful things alone are not as good as public music. ▼

In fact, the more important subsequent third-party applications are also downloaded and installed through the glasses steward. Unfortunately, no third-party application testing has been released during the public beta.

Experience review : It can be said that the glasses butler app is the "rear base" of new glass. At present, the interface beautification, function improvement, content resources and other aspects of the mobile phone butler app are not perfect, and it is expected to be enriched and improved as soon as possible in the future.

[What is the wearing experience of glasses for myopia and non myopia?]

As we all know, Google Glass, the originator of smart glasses, is not very friendly to "myopia". Therefore, from this point of view, Lenovo's NBD new glass adopts a split design, so users can adapt their own frames for "myopia" without having to adapt the frames for myopia at a high cost, which is more advanced than Google.

1. If it is "myopic", it needs two steps. The first step is to select appropriate clips according to the different width and thickness of your eyeglass frame and insert them into the eyeglass slot; The second step is to add the clip to the appropriate position of the glasses leg. ▼

Experience review : The design concept is very good, but it is a pity that the buckle of the new glass open test machine is soft in material selection and the buckle is not forced due to the force direction. In addition, the connection between the two should bear various body movement pressures, and there are click, slide and other gesture actions on the touch pad. In the actual experience, the prism of glasses is always crooked, and it is easy to fall out of the card slot. The suggestions for improvement will be elaborated in detail in the suggestions and assumptions. For better experience, the tail has to be equipped with contact lenses, and the following traditional connection method of original lens frame is adopted.


2. If it is not "myopia", use the original lens frame attached with the machine. It only takes one step to check the clip of the attached lens frame into the new glass glasses slot. ▼

Experience review : The connection of the original mirror frame is very stable. No matter in gesture operation or strenuous exercise, you should never worry about the tragedy of new glass falling off. It is strongly recommended to use this connection method. Of course, if the nasal support can be replaced or adjusted again, it will be more perfect.

【 new glass What is the visual experience of prism?]

Experience review : According to the official description of new glass, the prism's field of view is 20 degrees, and the display effect is equivalent to a 25 inch display 2 meters away, of course, the resolution is 800 * 480. This is just a rational data analysis. In fact, when the tail wore the new glass for the first time, there was such a transparent screen hanging in front of his eyes, with numbers and images suspended. I always felt that the brain suddenly lost its clear sense of distance. However, after wearing it for a period of time, the best visual position for the tail is to push the glasses up slightly so that the eyes can see the image a little higher. It will soon adapt to the existence of new glass. The resolution is not large, but the screen is also small. Card style interaction, high contrast text, and information can be quickly and intuitively understood. The content of the screen is very clear indoors, but it is not easy to see it in the direction of sunshine outdoors. Since there is an ambient light sensor, it is best to quickly develop firmware that supports automatic adjustment of screen brightness.

[How about the wearing experience of the neck seat in the hot summer?]

Since the split design is adopted, the main board and battery are both designed on the neck seat, and the neck seat is close to the neck skin. Wearing comfort and heat dissipation are unavoidable topics. If the clothes with high collars are worn, the neck seat is not obvious. ▼

The following figure shows that after using the tail for one hour, the temperature difference between the front and back of the neck seat is nearly two degrees. The heat dissipation material close to the skin still has some effect. ▼

Experience review : A fat person has a thick neck. Although the neck seat of new glass can adjust the size, the adjustable size is limited, and the preset width is not wide. I feel that the neck is a bit pinched, and the connecting wire between the glasses and the neck seat is not long. When the left and right turning amplitude is large, the glasses are always pulled. When using the new glass, you can feel that the temperature of the neck seat increases relatively quickly. In summer, it can only be said that it is acceptable. In winter, it should be very comfortable, and you should bring your own warm scarf.

[How about the experience of the glasses end system?]

The system experience of glasses desktop will involve many aspects. Tail thinks that it mainly focuses on smoothness, interactive control, basic function realization, extended application, and endurance.

1. In terms of fluency, the glasses desktop of new glass is based on Android 4.2.2 system and displayed in cards. The processor has 1.2Ghz dual core, 16G storage space and 1G operation memory. The smoothness of this hardware configuration in card based interaction is absolutely guaranteed. The following is the display effect of some pages. ▼

Experience review : The overall smoothness of the page switching of the card system may cause occasional stuttering, which should be the problem of firmware update and optimization.

2. In terms of interactive control, new glass has two interactive modes: voice and touch pad. Phonically, new glass can recognize simple preset operation commands. At the same time, if a third-party application is installed, you can record your own voice as the startup command, which is good in the prospect of voice expansion. ▼

On touch control, the new glass makes corresponding operations by making gesture commands on the touch control panel. In general, there are four gesture operations: click the touch pad as a choice; Swipe forward to flip the screen to the right, backward to flip to the left, and downward to return. ▼

Experience review : Because it is in the public beta period, the firmware is constantly upgraded. The voice in the 1.0 firmware is accurate and sensitive. In the 1.1 firmware, the voice recognition occasionally fails. This can be solved after optimization. Voice operation really liberates my hands. I prefer touch interaction, which is simple and direct. After all, it's strange to talk to myself in a place with many people.

3. In terms of basic function realization, after the firmware of new glass was upgraded to version 1.1, compared with version 1.0, video calls were added and navigation functions were cancelled because the module was being adjusted. Before upgrading, Tail experienced the navigation in front of her. It has two display modes: ordinary and head up. It feels a bit strange. If you add pedestrian navigation after the adjustment is completed, Mom won't have to worry about getting lost when going out for a stroll. ▼

Taking photos and video recording are basic functions. After taking photos, you can directly share, collect, delete and other operations. The video is recorded for 10 seconds by default. During this period, you can record at will by sliding back and forth on the touch pad, and up to 1080P can be selected. New glass can also send SMS messages, provided that contacts are added to the mobile butler APP. Or when you are bored, you can chat with me. These are all due to network connection and voice operation. ▼

Experience review : From the perspective of photo samples, the perspective of the photo is higher than that of the actual glasses. The biggest problem is that the photo is easily overexposed, which needs to be optimized in the next step; The biggest maladjustment is that the capture mode is adopted, and there is no shooting process, so process design optimization is still needed. The camera mode and auto focus function are more practical and have good effect, especially can record some first person video topics, such as the moment of football shooting and the moment of basketball shooting. Of course, it's a pity that Teacher Chen didn't use this artifact····

4. In terms of expanding applications and endurance, Experience review : Because it is a public beta machine, the government has not released third-party applications yet, but there is a god doing APP transplantation, which is very expected. From the time of use, it is impossible to carry a new glass all day after all, so the 1340mAh battery capacity is enough for me to use for a day.
