Le Orange is an intelligent device brand owned by Dahua Shares. Previously, it launched smart hardware such as Family Music Box and Xiaoqubao TC1 camera. This time, the machine that came to our evaluation room is their second intelligent camera Le Orange TP1.
The selling points of the machine are the suspended ball appearance, 3D PTZ and the built-in Anba 720P scheme. Although the price of the machine is still uncertain, it is estimated that the performance of the engineering machine should be very close to the final version. Now let's take a look at its performance.
Packaging and appearance
The outer layer of the package is the product drawing and a simple product introduction. The inner layer of the carton is very strong, and there is a handle on the top for easy extraction.
Accessories include power adapter, wall mount and warranty statement.
The wall mounting bracket is equipped with an additional wall screw and a sticker for convenient drilling.
The adapter adopts the small round port connector commonly used in wired routing, and the output is 5V/2A. The line length of nearly 3m is exaggerated, which makes the positioning of the machine much easier.
The whole body of the machine is polished. The spherical camera body seems to float on the base, and the shape is cool.
At the junction of the base and the sphere, there is a concave treatment, inside is a circle of hidden breathing lights.
On the front of the base is the logo of LeChange, and on the left is a small microphone opening.
On the right side of the base are two rows of speaker openings.
The connectors are concentrated on the back. From left to right, there are 3.5mm headphone connector, TF card slot (below is reset and pairing button), RJ45 network cable connector and power connector. The TF card slot can support up to 128G TF cards.
The nameplate of the base is printed with a two-dimensional code for binding. The concave base leaves a space for the wall mounting bracket. The machine can be clamped by rotating. The design is exquisite.
The machine sets the horizontal rotation axis of the rotary camera inside the sphere. Through the transparent cover on the camera track, you can see that the camera body is inside the sphere.
This rare design makes the machine's appearance much higher, but the transparent protective cover on the outside of the camera should be carefully handled, because its cleanliness/transparency may directly affect the camera's image.
Although it is made into a rotary camera, the shape control of the machine is very good, which is a big circle smaller than similar models such as ZTE Xiaoxing Kankan.

After the machine is powered on, the breath lamp between the sphere and the base will "flow" in the form of waves, and the effect is very cool.
In terms of heating, it may be because of the split design of the camera and the base. The machine has low heating, and the camera part is completely cold. Only the center of the base is considered warm.
app
The client of the machine is also very Le Orange style. Although its smart TV box, socket and camera are all connected to this application, its interface is still very simple.
The connection method is still the common "Scan the QR code of the machine body - enter the wifi password". In the security policy setting, a single device can only be bound to a single account, but the account can be logged in by multiple people at the same time. The security and ease of use will be better, but at the cost of timely informing other users of the new password after the password is changed.
List of real-time pictures, message alerts and videos
After the connection, you can see the real-time picture. The common functions of capturing, recording, voice intercom, and history review are all available. The picture only provides clear and high-definition definition options. The direction control button, which represents the dignity of the rotating camera, was quietly closed in the lower right corner of the real-time picture. After the direction control button is lit, the camera direction can be modified by sliding, and digital zoom can be performed by double finger zoom.
The most special function in the whole app is actually the profile. Although it is still a bit geeky to use now, it can control whether the machine pushes the mobile object detection notice in different time periods/weeks according to the preset plan, which can effectively improve the pertinence of the camera's reminder notice. After optimizing the process, it will be a very practical function.
Basic functions
The basic functions of the intelligent camera mainly include remote view, mobile detection alert and cloud storage.
In remote viewing, the stability of each smart camera manufacturer is not very different, but their loading speed and delay performance are quite different. The loading speed and delay are almost only related to the speed of the machine and the manufacturer's server (some products without cloud services are directly connected to the camera to read images).
The loading speed of TP1 is at least the top 3 among the products measured by the author. The time from clicking the button to seeing the real-time image is about 2-3 seconds, and the delay of the real-time image is about 1 second. The speed even blew up some fluorite products.
Mobile detection is no longer the bottleneck of manufacturers, and later algorithm modification is relatively easy. The measured default alarm threshold of Le Orange TP1 is relatively high, which can filter out many images with small changes (false alarms), and the interference of notification and reminder is very low. However, on occasions such as sleeping at night, the more sensitive the machine is, the better. The author still hopes to increase sensitivity options later.
In terms of cloud storage, Le Orange TP1 conscientiously gave away cloud storage for one year. Although it only stores for 3 days (usually 7 days), products with lower prices such as the Xiaoant camera do not have this service at all, or only give away cloud storage for 1-3 months. Le Orange deserves praise in this respect.
Mobile PTZ
Horizontal limit rotation angle of camera
The important selling point of TP1 is its mobile PTZ, and the assessment criteria of PTZ include moving range, moving speed and precision, response speed and noise level. The 355 degree horizontal movement range of the machine is good, but the vertical movement is only 0-90 degrees. If the monitored object is low, the machine still has to tilt forward.
The movement accuracy (the number of steps) and movement speed of the PTZ are a bunch of contradictions. To achieve high accuracy and small steps, the movement speed must be sacrificed. This is also an important reason why similar products turn too slowly and operate slowly. TP1 PTZ is a step of about 2 degrees, which achieves a good balance in control accuracy and rotation speed. It only takes 4-5 seconds to complete a turn of PTZ.
The noise control of the TP1 PTZ is in place. When the distance between the ear and the keyboard is more than 40cm in the office, the sound of the PTZ is almost inaudible. When the PTZ is close to the office, the faint sound of the gear can be heard (a bit like the sound of a hard disk working).
Thanks to the low latency mentioned above, the response speed of PTZ is also higher than that of similar products. Although the image delay is only reduced from 2-3 seconds to 1 second, the experience improvement of the PTZ control operation that needs to see the image for feedback has been extremely poor.
Voice intercom
Voice intercom is regarded as a defensive feature. Many manufacturers only put it on in name, but there are often problems with poor reception quality and voice delay. The experience is usually poor.
Mutually exclusive intercom and PTZ mobile function
The voice delay of TP1 is about 1.5-2 seconds, which is not very good. The volume is moderate (no volume adjustment option is provided for the time being), but it may be due to the accumulation of echo cancellation technology of Dahua Le Orange. The algorithm noise reduction of the machine is very good, echo cancellation is very clean, and the main voice is quite prominent.
In addition, its voice setting is to maintain real-time calls after clicking the open intercom button on the app, which will be more practical. In addition, the official paid more attention to the functional design. When the PTZ moves, the intercom function will automatically turn off, so the gear sound of machine movement will not be heard during two-way intercom.
Picture quality
The configuration of TP1 camera is not low: Anba (a supplier of gopro and Dajiang)'s processor, 1/4-inch 1 megapixel iBGA CMOS, together with the rare f1.8 large aperture on the camera, can support at least 0.01Lux luminosity in official logo color mode, and the maximum infrared distance is 10 meters.

The machine only provides HD (1280 × 720@25fps ）And smooth (704* 480@25fps ）Two modes. In the still daytime picture, the bandwidth occupied by smooth mode is about 30-40KB/S, and that of clear mode is about 60-70KB/S. The pictures of both modes are relatively smooth, and the faces can be recognized at normal walking speed.
Because it is dynamic coding, the color content of the image and the range of changes will lead to significant changes in bandwidth requirements. Therefore, this value is only for reference. However, normal 3G networks (except mobile 3G) or 2m broadband of telecommunications are sufficient to support the network speed requirements of such products.

Anba's solution has always been the strongest among cameras. In the live video screenshots, the tolerance of the machine is so high that it is like turning on HDR. The sky details on sunny days in summer and the dark details of the building have been retained.
If there is any problem, it should be the 75 degree field of vision of the machine. Although a smaller field of vision can have higher discrimination, and there will be no obvious wide-angle distortion, the field of vision is indeed not as good as the traditional fisheye lens.

Although the total number of pixels is only 1 million, the discrimination is close to many so-called 1080P cameras, and the enlarged image is sufficient to recognize faces within 5-10m. In addition, the digital zoom of the machine is also insane, and can be magnified to the pixel level.

The low illumination is still acceptable, but the dark details are lost more; The infrared mode will be automatically triggered under extremely weak light. Although it has reached the 10m visual distance declared by the official, the number and power of infrared lights on the fuselage are relatively low. The details of infrared mode are slightly weaker than the color mode under indoor weak light after obvious algorithm processing.
summary
Compared with those entry-level smart cameras that are priced between 120 yuan and 200 yuan and are not even available for cloud storage, the author still recommends buying Le Orange TP1, a mid-level device with PTZ and cloud storage. After all, it is much more cost-effective and practical. In terms of performance and design, TP1 is definitely one of the most balanced and practical 720P smart cameras in recent years:
The face value of the machine is very high. The design of the suspended ball and the annular wave breathing lamp are very pleasing;
The official network optimization is good, and the loading speed of real-time images and cloud videos is among the best among similar devices. One year of cloud storage is quite conscience in this era;
The PTZ has achieved a proper balance between the step accuracy and the response speed, the use experience has been significantly improved, and the availability of two-way intercom function is also high;
Thanks to the stacking of materials, the image quality performance is good. The discrimination and tolerance are almost the limits of the 720P camera, but the field of vision, low light image quality and performance in infrared mode are satisfactory.
The most important price problem is that the official current activity price is 259 yuan. In the face of this fierce pricing, the purchase rating given to it by the author is just "buy buy".
