On April 28 this year, Shenhua released Y1 and Z1 new products, of which Y1 is equipped with the first light source with brightness up to 500 lumens in domestic intelligent projection, and has added real-time optical correction and virtual touch functions, hoping to provide an effect comparable to traditional projection, and to automate/intelligentize the projector. Among the projectors, the divine drawing Y1 is also quite special. The streamlined body design is very simple. The white polished panel on the top is only printed with the brand logo painted by God, and the bottom is the parameter nameplate of the machine.


On both sides are cooling grids similar to the Bird's Nest (Beijing Gymnasium), which are fashionable in shape. All the connectors on the body are on the right side.


The front lens cover is designed with magnetic suction, which is easy to open and close. In order to reserve cooling space for high-power optical machines, the thickness of the body is slightly larger than that of similar models.

The multilayer lenses and optical coating under the lens can be seen under the side light, while on the right side of the huge projection lens, it is an important function of Y1 - an independent lens for automatic optical focusing and human-computer interaction.


The four feet of the fuselage are equipped with silicone anti-skid pads, which can be rotated out about 2cm high, and can form an elevation angle of about 20 degrees at most.

The remote control buttons are very simple. The back is made of frosted material with an arc. It has a good grip. The key layout is very similar to that of a mobile phone, with power and volume buttons on the side.

System experience

The machine is equipped with the PIQS system, which is deeply customized by Shenhua for intelligent projection equipment. The system adopts a block desktop. The home page is videos and application recommendations, and they also have their own tabs. What's more special is that each big box in the home page is an independent display space, which can slide left and right to view more content. It is designed for virtual touch interactive manipulation, and has much higher information density than the traditional desktop.



Because Shenhua is the only manufacturer with virtual touch technology at present, the third-party application interface of the system can be designed to be like a tablet, convenient and fast for accurate clicking.



The content and layout of the setting menu is similar to that of the Android tablet. After some simplification and optimization, it greatly reduces the threshold for users to use projection devices.


The system can even retain the status bar and shortcut buttons. The shortcut buttons add some common functions such as projector related tuning, output interface selection, etc. It is not necessary to enter the setting page for daily use. This detail is very considerate.


In order to facilitate users to connect to computers, mobile phones and other devices, a connection input page is independently placed in the system. In addition to the traditional HDMI and VGA wired transmission, Android and Apple's mobile phones/tablets can simply carry out wireless handheld same screen and wireless video transmission. The machine can even carry out wireless HDMI transmission, eliminating the need for data lines and complicated wiring links, which is much more convenient to use.


Virtual touch, kill through touch applications

This virtual touch allows the system operation to be infinitely close to the mobile phone/tablet, e-book page turning, pictures, web browsing, and even microblogging, which are very close to the experience of touch screen mobile phones. Instead of pressing the button repeatedly like the up, down, left and right direction keys, the virtual touch remote control experience is much more "humane" and comfortable.


The most obvious difference is that when inputting characters, the traditional direction key remote control has vomited blood when it sees the keyboard interface. Virtual touch can save many clicks on this occasion, which is very practical.


Game experience

Virtual touch can completely simulate the operation on the touch screen. Theoretically, all the work that can be done on the touch screen can be done by the machine. Classic touch games, such as Fruit Ninja, Angry Birds, Plants vs Zombies, Mahjong, Fight the Landlord, have good game experience on Y1:


There are also shooting games that have the same experience of opening and closing. Using virtual touch points to directly aim at the target of shooting will be more like real shooting.


Direction control games such as thunder and lightning only need to move the virtual touch point, and the aircraft will move with it. It is also easy to play.


While tower defense/card with more complex structure, as well as games requiring precise click, the operation precision of virtual touch can be competent.


There is a special 3D game button on the remote control. Click it to enter the gravity sensing mode. In racing games like rapids, you can tilt the remote control from left to right to operate the sense of body. The experience is also good.

For games with more dimensional requirements, in addition to the optional Bluetooth handle, Y1 provides the synchronous interaction function. By connecting with the mobile phone or tablet, Y1 can operate the mobile phone/tablet as a remote control.


Foolish automatic correction

The so-called "intelligence" of intelligent projection, to a large extent, refers to their "foolishness", which can complete tedious manual operations through automatic functions. This fully automatic correction function is the main and important function of Shenhua Y1. The integrated monitoring lens next to the main lens is designed for this function.

The monitoring lens integrates remote control signal reception, automatic focusing, automatic brightness adjustment and trapezoidal correction functions. By default, all the user needs to do is to stabilize and power on the projector. The brightness control, focus adjustment and trapezoid correction are all controlled by the machine itself, and these controls are real-time.

Although this scheme uses more than one lens, real-time focusing also solves the problem of thermal defocusing that often occurs in projectors in a disguised way (the heat generated by the projector's optical machine will deform the lens and cause defocusing during use). In the actual measurement, after the projection was placed at a distance of 1m and used for 2 hours, no problem of virtual focus was found on the machine, and the effect was still obvious.


The setting items of the machine are unified. The last two of the three unique functions of the projector, namely, brightness, focusing and trapezoid correction, are integrated into the setting items of the Android system, making the logic clearer. Finally, a product integrates the independent projection setting menu and Android system setting menu in general intelligent projection.



Because there is an independent lens for automatic optical focusing and human-computer interaction, the machine can automatically adjust the brightness and contrast. Therefore, the brightness setting item that makes users dizzy when they see it can also be removed, further simplifying the user's operation logic.

In order to meet the needs of different users, the machine provides three different color temperature modes. The three modes correspond to bright (color temperature 10500K), standard (color temperature 8500K), and soft (color temperature 6500K).

What impressed me most was the automatic brightness adjustment function. The machine has automatic brightness adjustment, which can automatically adjust the brightness according to the use environment, just like the mobile phone. You don't need to adjust the brightness of the machine in the daytime or at night, so it is very user-friendly.


Projection effect

As an important partner of Shenhua, OSRAM Lighting supports Shenhua to use the brightest P1W # LED light source for the first time in China, and this brightest light source is launched on Shenhua Y1. Its color flow is up to 500 lumens, which is equivalent to the traditional 2000 lumens. Its brightness is up to twice that of ordinary LED light sources, and its contrast is also up to 5000:1.

The projection ratio of the machine is 1.03, which can project a larger picture than the conventional intelligent projection at the same distance (40 inch picture at 0.9m, 110 inch picture at 2.4m). It only takes 4.3 meters to project a 200 inch giant screen, which is obviously more suitable for the domestic family living room.


The solid color of the machine is more colorful, and the saturation of blue and red is higher.


Because the brightness of the machine is automatically adjusted, it cannot be adjusted to the highest brightness in the dark field. In addition, the actual projection size has exceeded 120 inches, so the brightness will appear lower.

From the pure white and pure black proofs, we can see that in the dark field, the brightness of the divine Y1 can be relatively low. The white display is warm like the iPad, but Y1 is red and the iPad is yellow. In terms of black field, there is almost no trace of projection.


The result of pure color contrast is close to the intuitive feeling at the beginning. The blue and red saturation of Y1 is much higher than that of iPad, and the color restoration process is good.

Performance and decoding

The machine adopts Amlogic's A9 quad core 2.0GHz main frequency processor, 2G memory+16G ROM, and the GPU is Mali-450 MP6 eight core graphics processor.


In terms of scores, Geekbench scores more than 523 points for single core and 1500 points for multi core; The RAR reading performance is about 790m/s.


The score of Anthare exceeded that of LG G3 by 35810 points, which was close to that of Nexus 5 and Xiaomi 3 using Snapdragon 800 processor. Even if this score is not the strongest, it can certainly be one of the intelligent projectors with the highest score.

 

In terms of actual use smoothness, we turn on the GPU to display the curve. As long as the curve in the lower left corner of the screen does not exceed the green line, it means that the number of frames per second of the machine exceeds 60. In the desktop sliding and setting menu, the curve of the machine has been kept at a very low position, which even leads to a number of flagship phones.

Under the environment of 30 ℃ room temperature, after working for 2 hours, the highest temperature of the fuselage appears near the optical mechanical air outlet on the left, which is about 43 ℃; The temperature on the right side is only 31.8 degrees, which is close to the room temperature.

In terms of volume and sound quality, two 3W speakers are placed on both sides of the rear of the machine, which can provide true stereo sound. The volume is enough for families. The speaker has good high-frequency extension, good analytical power, wide sound field, good overall quality, and is suitable for listening to voice, which is quite consistent with the functional positioning of home theater.

In terms of projection performance, the first 500 lumen light source in China carried by Shenhua Y1 really brings excellent brightness and color performance. The large projection ratio also gives domestic families the opportunity to project a 200 inch giant screen. The heat dissipation and noise reduction performance of the fuselage is also quite good.
