"Materialism" stealthily removes Kisslink's underpants for you to see

When I received this router with strange shape and no LAN port from my colleague, I was a little disdainful to think, what else can a router do? So I found the instructions of Kisslink. It said that it only takes two steps to configure Kisslink. The first step is to plug in the Internet cable and power cable. The second step is to "kiss" the top of the router with your mobile phone, and then you can go online!

It sounds like such a magical connection method is really a bit unimaginable

"Kiss" is also a difficult move

After connecting the power cable and the network cable, I can't use Kisslink immediately. Instead, I need to wait for dozens of seconds. When the orange indicator light on the top of the router turns blue, it means that the router has been automatically configured and the next operation can be carried out.

At this time, put my mobile phone (tablet or laptop) close to the top of the router for a few seconds. At this time, the blue circular light on the top of the router will give out the effect of a breathing light, indicating that "I am pairing with you". Note that the device needs to cover the infrared probe on the top of the router to indicate that the "Kiss" posture is correct. Usually, after "kissing" for two or three seconds, the router emits a beep, indicating that the authentication is passed. At this time, you can use the device that has just kissed Kisslink to connect to the Wi Fi hotspot named KSLINK023608 (the number after different Kisslinks may be different) in the Wi Fi list, and then you can go online.

In the following period of time, my office colleagues' mobile phones, iPads and laptops all became my test objects, and I had a close contact with Kisslink. However, not all devices can be successfully connected through "Kiss".

Small devices, such as mobile phones and tablets, can happily "kiss" Kisslink in any position, and can be certified in a short time, usually in two or three seconds. Of course, this is also a prerequisite. The phone or tablet needs to be set to the WLAN setting interface. If the phone is locked, the pairing time with Kisslink will increase greatly, or even the pairing will not be possible.

It is not easy to "kiss" Kisslink with a laptop, which is a large and heavy product. At the same time, because the wiring positions of the antennas of different laptops are very different, and if the "kiss" position with Kisslink is far from the antenna, it will be "kiss" for a long time and can not be verified, so I had to take a huge laptop and swing over Kisslink in various positions to find the "kiss position" with the strongest signal with Kisslink, So my colleague asked me, "Are you detecting mines?". Later, I learned to be smarter. I took Kisslink to the "anti kissing" notebook, and my colleague asked me, "This time, I will do security check for the notebook?" In short, Kisslink's "kissing connection" experience was not good for these big guys.

Fortunately, Kisslink also provides another encrypted Wi Fi network. The default password is on the label at the bottom of the router. I can connect by typing the password.

No setting is the best setting

For the DHCP network in the office, you can automatically connect to the network by plugging in the router cable. However, my home's Internet access mode is dial in PPPoE. Even if Kisslink is smart, it is impossible to know the account password provided by the operator.

Then, after connecting the cable and "kissing", open the browser to browse any web page, and the browser will automatically jump to the dial-up network login interface to input PPPoE Dial up network account and password, nothing else, this is really very convenient.

In addition to the foolproof PPPoE login service, Kisslink also provides foolproof settings for wireless trunking. When only the power cord is plugged in, it connects to Kisslink, opens the browser to browse any web page, and the browser will automatically jump to the configuration page where a wireless trunking needs to be entered. I just need to select the Wi Fi name to be bridged in the list and enter the password, Kisslink will be automatically configured as the Wi Fi bridge router. The fool like operation can be praised.

How can I get online after kissing?

You must be curious about the principle that Kisslink provides Wi Fi hotspots without passwords and can be connected with a kiss. In fact, it is easy to understand that Kisslink uses the MAC address white list system. Devices that have "kissed" the Kisslink router will be automatically entered into the router's white list and can connect to the Internet. Devices that have not "kissed" Kisslink can search for this password free Wi Fi hot spot, but they are not in the router's MAC address white list, so they cannot connect.

In fact, the creative design of Kisslink lies in its security. Kisslink adopts a very creative way. All its secrets (underwear) are on the infrared distance sensor on the top of the router: when the sensor is blocked, the router starts to detect the Wi Fi device with the strongest signal around, and adds its MAC address to the white list; If the router has captured a MAC address in this detection, the whitelist search will stop immediately, and other devices will not have any chance to enter the whitelist, so they will not be able to connect to the Kisslink.

Unless... you know the location of the router and always send super strong Wi Fi signals to the router, it is possible to add it to the white list of Kisslink when other devices "kiss" the router. However, you should know that the attenuation of Wi Fi signal strength with distance and obstructions is very serious, Therefore, it is difficult for ordinary people to use signal strength to PK wireless devices that are almost attached to Kisslink over a long distance.

Of course, in addition to fool like automatic configuration, Kisslink also provides more adjustment options through its exclusive app. Unfortunately, only Android apps can be downloaded for the time being, and iOS users need to wait for a while.

Kisslink's App only provides very limited setting options. For example, in Wi Fi settings, only the options of changing the name of Wi Fi, encryption, and whether to broadcast are open, while the functions commonly used on home routers, such as traffic monitoring, bandwidth allocation, and port mapping, are not provided. This is unacceptable to me.

Kisslink is available in white and pink at 269 yuan in Jingdong Mall. As a router with built-in two antennas, only supporting 2.4GHz wireless network, no LAN port and few functions, the price seems to be... Well, the underpants have been removed. Whether you are willing to pay for its creativity is your business.
