On January 15, Xiaomi held a flagship new product press conference at the Beijing National Convention Center, which featured "two" mobile phones, namely Xiaomi Note and the top version of Xiaomi Note. This is also the first time that Xiaomi has increased the screen size of its mobile phone to 5.7 inches and matched it with an ultra-thin body. We got the Xiaomi Note at the first time, so let's start the unpacking experience immediately:

The outer package of Xiaomi Note is very similar to the previous Xiaomi mobile phones.

Xiaomi Note uses a 5.7 inch 1080P IPS large screen, which is also the largest mobile phone in Xiaomi Company.

The earpiece adopts a groove+mesh design. On the right side of the earpiece is a 4 million pixel front camera with a unit pixel of 2 microns. In fact, it is the UltraPixel on HTC products. The front panel of Xiaomi Note is designed with 2.5D glass, so we can see a "film killer" arc at the edge of the screen.

The back of Xiaomi Note adopts a more special 3D glass design. Both sides are curved, and the visual effect is somewhat similar to the curved screen of Samsung Galaxy Note Edge.

The body thickness of Xiaomi Note is only 6.95mm, and the whole machine is very thin. There are volume keys and power keys on the right side of the fuselage.

Xiaomi Note uses the familiar MIUI 6, but because of its hardware features and the support of the new system, it has more functions than Xiaomi 4. On the lock screen interface, slide left to access the camera and right to access smart home settings.
The launcher is basically the same as Xiaomi 4, but the layout of icons is slightly different. The distance between icons and icons is relatively large.

Our Xiaomi Note uses MIUI 6 system, the system version number is 5.1.13 development version, and the system kernel is 3.4.0.
Although it is based on Android 4.4.4 system, Xiaomi Note does not provide ART mode.
Xiaomi Note's screen has a muscle strengthening and eye protection mode, which can reduce blue light damage and support third-party applications.
The NTSC color gamut of Xiaomi Note's screen is as high as 95%, and the color is very bright. The system also provides three screen optimization modes: adaptive, screen enhancement, and standard mode. It also provides adjustment of color temperature.
Due to the large screen size, Xiaomi Note also provides one hand mode. The small screen can be 3.5 inches, 4.0 inches and 4.5 inches in size.
To enable the one handed mode, we just need to swipe left or right from the home key. Other Xiaomi mobile phones will also achieve this function after upgrading the system.
Four different font sizes are also available for selection.
Xiaomi Note uses the same Snapdragon 801 processor as Xiaomi 4. The model is MSM8974AC, four core 2.5GHz, and 3G Ram. I believe everyone is familiar with this SoC, and there are many practical products.
MSM8974AC is equipped with Adreno 330@578MHz The GPU driver version of Xiaomi Note is currently V66, which supports OpenGL ES3.0.
Like Xiaomi 4, Xiaomi Note keeps its four cores at the highest frequency of 2.5GHz when opening the performance mode, which is really "born for fever".
The score of Anthare's evaluation is about the same as that of Xiaomi 4. Snapdragon 801 doesn't have much potential to tap. Maybe the new GPU driver will bring new surprises after Android 5.0.
Xiaomi Note does a very good job in the smoothness of the system UI.
In third-party applications such as Weibo and Taobao, which are "old and difficult", Xiaomi Note still maintains good fluency, which proves that Snapdragon 801 with 1080P resolution is indeed a balanced combination of performance and fluency in all aspects.
The sound quality of Xiaomi Note is a big selling point. The combination of ES9018K2M+dual ADA4896+dual OPA1612 gives it a solid audio foundation. In terms of the "stack" of audio hardware, Xiaomi can be said to be "crazy" like Vivo.
Xiaomi Note also has a switch of HiFi mode. After it is turned on, it uses independent decoding and ear amplifier lines for music processing. After opening, we can feel the sound is obviously different, and the thrust is much larger.
Mi Yin can be understood as some "special EQs" of MIUI for preset earphones, which cannot be turned on at the same time as HiFi mode.
Since we just got the Xiaomi Note, we haven't fully warmed up the machine, so here is just a brief introduction to our initial listening experience. The sound quality of Xiaomi Note is absolutely of a high standard in mobile phones, which is at the same level as some mobile phones of Vivo and Meizu that use independent audio chips. The overall sound style is relatively balanced, and the sound is warm, which belongs to the type of relatively durable listening. The intermediate frequency is better, and the voice is closer. The smoothness of high frequency is slightly poor, the volume sense of low frequency is not great, and the diving is also slightly insufficient. Of course, these may be improved after the machine is fully warmed up. In general, the sound quality of Xiaomi Note has surprised us, but after all, Xiaomi is also the first time to enter this field, and the tuning aspect may need to be further improved to make his own style.
Xiaomi Note uses the same IMX214 stack sensor as Xiaomi 4, with 13 million pixels, but it adds optical anti shake and dual color temperature fill light. In addition, it is worth mentioning that Xiaomi Note has a point measurement linkage function and is very sensitive to light measurement. The above two pictures are the differences between different focusing and light measurement points. When taking photos, pay special attention to adjusting the exposure. MIUI also supports quick rotation to adjust exposure, which is convenient.

In terms of night view, the anti glare is pretty good.
When HDR is turned on, certain picture details can still be guaranteed in poor light, but the picture noise is not well controlled.
More night scene samples, from the effect, optical anti shake can still play a certain effect, extend the exposure time, and ensure the brightness of the picture. From the actual photo taking effect, the performance of Xiaomi Note is indeed better than that of Xiaomi 4, but there is still room for improvement in analytical power.

Xiaomi Note supports dual SIM card and dual standby. When we insert two SIM cards, we can set the dual card network in the system settings.
We can set which card we choose to surf the Internet.
As shown in the figure, we set card 2 as the network access card, which can normally use the LTE network, while card 1 becomes the GSM network, and vice versa.
You can choose which card you want to use when dialing.
Xiaomi Note uses CSFB technology, and cannot maintain 4G network connectivity when dialing.
