The original divine oil has fought for another two years, and Xiaomi 2s Android 5.0 has started to evaluate

Right there On the day of the national celebration of Hands Chopping/Singles Day, the semi official Android 5.0 Lollipop (lollipop) update also came to Xiaomi 2/2s mobile phone.

This morning, the MIUI development team released the card swiping package for Android 5.0 on the official forum, making Evergreen Xiaomi 2/2s the first member of Xiaomi's family to rise to 5.0 (Mi3 and Mi4 expressed dissatisfaction). Now let's see the effect of the old bottle with the new one.

Brushing method

It was announced in the machine brushing post that this upgrade supports all versions of Xiaomi 2 and Xiaomi 2s. The problems found are that the Bluetooth headset phone is abnormal and the CDMA telecom card is imperfect. This time, the test machine happened to be Xiaomi 2s of the telecom version, and the actual measurement showed that the telecom card had no signal

The size of the card brush bag is 186m, which can be guessed from the volume that the system is extremely pure. The corresponding Recovery image (CWM 6.0.5.1) is released at the same time as the refresh package, which can be directly refreshed with the "Mobile Uncle Toolbox". Of course, you can also download the recovery package that has been remade by other users, and use it as an official browser.

After entering CWM 6.0.5.1, the card swiping package can be swiped in after the normal double cleaning (three cleaning if you are not sure). It is worth noting that you need to first open "Dual System Coexistence" in the advanced settings and brush the system in System 1. Before restarting, there will be a thoughtful prompt of "repairing root permissions", but after the repair, the root connection is not successful (it may be the author's posture or model is incorrect)

System bottom layer and interface

From the lock screen interface and the desktop, I don't see the flavor of 5.0. Except for different dialing, contacts and setting icons, the rest are almost the same as Android 4.4.

The desktop application has become an app called Launcher3, which has been logically unified and streamlined. Clicking Settings can only add widgets and change the tablecloth. The application drawer will not be displayed in full screen (it really becomes a drawer), and there is no sorting and filtering function applied.

The background of the notification bar is changed to semi transparent, and the second pull-down will "drag" the shortcut button out. Wifi and Bluetooth connection names will be displayed directly. Click the name to view the details list. There are many shortcuts of flashlight in it. Long press will not jump to the details page.

The abandoned setting button on MIUI 6 is revived, and the task manager needs to press and hold the Home key to call it up. The task list is a bit like the tab of mobile Chrome. There is a close button in the upper right corner of the card, and you can still close the task by sliding left and right.

Among the various upgrades of Android 5.0, the author is most satisfied with the new task manager/mechanism. Although fewer tasks can be seen on a single page, the scrolling animation is "really cool", The following degree and task switching speed are enough to kill MIUI5/6000 times.

The background can now record all open applications (which will also be retained after restart), and you can make up for the spectacular scene of nearly 100 task cards on the test machine. The system background will record the exit status just like iOS. Even if the browser web page opened a long time ago is not manually cleaned, the original page record will still be loaded when it is opened.

The setting page is card like and the font is larger, but the content and 4.4 are not different. Click or long press the item to have a delicate response animation. The notification settings are integrated into the prompt tone, and application notifications can be managed uniformly.

In the developer options, everything remains the same. Click the version number several times to call up the lollipop animation and open the developer options. 5.0 runs in ART mode by default, so there is no switch button in developer options.

Click the volume key to call up the profile manager (left picture). There is also a power saving assistant in the power option. When enabled, the notification bar will turn red (right figure), and the CPU will reduce the frequency and limit the background traffic. The specific effect needs to be tested in detail.

In terms of details, the pop-up style and program management interface have been slightly improved, which will be easier to use. In addition, all applications uniformly use the animation effect of sliding from the bottom, which will be more comfortable.

Official application

Because it is an extremely compact version, only 16 apps come with it. Among them, there are five changes: "dialing, address book, calculator, clock and camera".

The new dialing can only be described as handsome. Almost all the secondary pages are displayed in the form of half screen or pop-up window. The top permanent search box and the last call record (collapsible) support sliding left and right to switch content.

The camera interface scrolls to the right to call up the setting menu, and scrolls to the left to call up the picture library. It also supports scrolling up and down to delete photos. The editing function does not change much.

However, HDR and Panorama are not available, but their tuning seems better than MIUI's own camera, with shorter delay and better imaging (to be compared in detail later).

The keyboard has also changed its appearance, without the space between keys, and looks more refreshing. However, the native keyboard does not support Chinese.

In contrast, the clock, computer and address book are more just a change of skin, and the layout and functions have not changed much.

Fluency and performance

The direct feeling of the new system is: fast and handsome. Shuai originates from the richness and delicacy of the new cut scenes animation; Faster is due to more following touch performance and faster response speed. In terms of the use experience, the speed is much faster than MIUI 4/5/6, much faster than the official native 4.1, and there is almost no stuck.

In addition, the transition animation with more and more detailed content uses a faster playback speed (the same speed is 1 times, but it is still a file faster than the 4.4 and MIUI 6 animations), which is easier to create a fast "illusion".

In GPU monitoring, although the red line has been maintained at a high position, it rarely breaks through the green warning line, and its performance is even better than that of many flagship ships this year.

With the help of Art Magic Oil and the streamlined system, the system can be said to be smooth, which is quite similar to the style of Android 2.3 used by Xiaomi 1 in those days. There are nearly 60 applications installed continuously, and during this period, you can hardly feel the stuttering caused by application installation in the background.

The available memory also remains high for a long time. Turn on all the applications in the above figure in turn, and the speed starts to decline when reaching the 30-40, but the task switching speed is still fast.

Finally, use the running score to verify the feeling of use. Anthare version 5.2 running is divided into 3030; GFXBench 3.0 Manhattan 1080P closed the screen at 314 (5.1 fps), and Overlord closed the screen at 823 (14.7 fps); Geekbench3 single core 647, multi-core 2144; CF Bench has a total score of 21627; Pi 38.687 seconds; Sun spider 1184.9.

All the scores were not cleared up in the background and continued. The score may be lower than normal, but because I forgot to run under MIUI 6 before the machine was cleaned, I can't compare them for the time being. I can only make up _ (: ☒ "∠) later_

Compatibility/Heating/Endurance

Of the 111 applications in the above screenshot (16 native apps), only Master Lu has flashed back. Anthare has crashed once, with good compatibility. But strangely, Xiaomi's own Xiaomi system and Xiaomi desktop cannot be installed, and Baidu Post Bar, which optimizes the famous slag, cannot be installed

The heating control of the new system is good, and even if the running points are running, the high temperature under MIUI will not appear for a long time (may be automatic frequency reduction?). The power consumption speed is also better than that of MIUI6. When the official 3100mAh battery is used for 2s, 30% of the power is lost (including running, multi opening and downloading of applications) after nearly two and a half hours of continuous high-frequency use.

Summary

When I saw Google's launch, I also felt that Android 5.0 was just a change of skin. But in practice, the default start of ART and the underlying optimization of the system allow the new system to squeeze more hardware performance. To sum up simply, it can make the machine run faster and more comfortable, and the interface animation is really pleasing to the eye.

The performance optimization of the new system is difficult to be reflected on the performance monsters of Nexus 6 and Nexus 9, but it may have more unexpected effects on low-end models. Android 5.0 is more conscientious than iOS, which eats more hardware every time it is upgraded.

Although the system on Xiaomi 2 is just in the open test, it is relatively stable. In addition to Bluetooth headset call support, telecom cards, and some application adaptations, only small bugs that cannot be switched on when connected to the computer data cable have been encountered for the time being. If it were not for the fatal injury of the telecom card, it would have been able to serve as a daily system. It's hard to run MIUI 6 Mi2 can fight for another two years ( ̄ _, ̄)
