Cheap 64 bit HTC Desire 510 evaluation
Cheap 64 bit HTC Desire 510 evaluation

Low cost Android phones are rising. HTC's Desire series used to be the best among middle and low-end phones. But with the extrusion of domestic brands, the Desire series is not as easy as before. Fortunately, HTC has not given up. The newly launched Desire 510 is evidence of HTC's efforts in the cracks.

From the name, the Desire 510 is like the simple upgrade of the Desire 500 before. But when we really get started, it is not difficult to find that the Desire 510 is not a simple upgrade compared with the 500.

Specifications:

  • 4.7 "FWVGA screen, 208ppi;

  • Android 4.4.2 system, Sense 6 UI;

  • 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 chipset, including quad core Cortex-A53 CPU Adreno 306 GPU;

  • Support LTE;

  • 5 megapixel, HTC ZOE camera, supporting 1080p video recording;

  • Front VGA resolution lens;

  • 8GB built-in storage, SD card can be expanded;

  • 2100 mAh removable battery, super power saving mode;

  • Dark grey, black, navy blue (official name) and white fuselage are available.

Appearance design and workmanship:

Although the 510 is not the top product of the Desire series, HTC does not neglect the 510 at all. The whole 510 is well made. Although the overall plastic body looks ordinary, it conforms to the positioning of the 510 itself. Compared with other mobile phones at the same price, the appearance and workmanship of the 510 are not picky.

On the front, the 510 is somewhat similar to the flagship of the ONE series. The earpiece uses HTC's usual porous appearance, but unfortunately the 510 does not have a built-in HTC BoomSound speaker. Although the 4.7 inch screen is small in the mobile phone industry at present, the size of the body is not small. Similarly, the 156 gram body weight is also heavy.

Above are VGA resolution cameras, light sensors and distance sensors.

The opening on the chin is a microphone.

The 510's side uses an arc design, making the transition from the front to the back comfortable and natural, thickness Close to one centimeter, volume control SOSO.

The power key and 3.5mm headphone port are located on the top.

There is a MicroUSB interface at the bottom, and the vacant part in the middle is used to open the back cover.

The right side of the fuselage is the volume button, and the left side has no buttons.

The back cover of 510 is designed as a whole and removable. After removal, users can replace the battery, MicroSIM and SD card. The bottom is a single speaker, and the top middle The 5 megapixel camera has no automatic function, and the flash has also been removed.

Screen performance:

For a low-end mobile phone, the performance of the screen should not be expected to be too high - although HTC has the tradition of conscience screen, 510 is equipped with a very conventional 4.7 inch screen, the resolution is only FWVGA (854 × 480), and the pixel density is only 208 ppi.

The visual angle of the screen is generally good. When viewing from a different angle, the contrast decreases slightly. However, the screen color saturation of 510 is moderate, and the appearance is good. It's really conscience for a cheap mobile phone.

The screen brightness of 510 is average, only 354 nits, which is lower than that of competitors at the same level, but the black performance of 510 is very good, and the overall contrast reaches 1159:1, which is much better than that of competitors.

However, due to the low brightness and serious reflection, the 510 screen has poor visibility in strong light. If you want to use it in the sun, you'd better block the light manually.

Battery life:

HTC claims that the endurance of 510 can sustain 17 hours of calls or 27 days of pure standby in 3G networks. In our test, The 3G call endurance test result is 14 hours and 6 minutes, the network browsing result is 10 hours and 53 minutes, the video playback result is 9 hours and 54 minutes, and the total endurance result is 70 hours, which means that 510 can persist for 3 days in normal use. This performance is very excellent, and behind the excellent endurance, the large battery and the power saving Cortex-A53 processor must also contribute.

Performance:

Desire 510 is one of the first mobile phones to use Snapdragon 410, a 64 bit processor. This new 64 bit processor uses ARM's Cortex-A53 architecture, with a maximum frequency of 1.2Ghz, an Adreno 306 GPU and 1GB RAM.

Mobile phones with Snapdragon 400 processors have been running everywhere for a long time. We are also very interested in improving the performance of Snapdragon 410 GeekBench runs In the test, we found that under the same dominant frequency, the new CPU is about 25% faster than the previous processors using Cortex-A7 architecture, and the performance is similar to that of the 1.6GHz A7 architecture. From this point of view, the new 64 bit architecture has significantly improved the performance.

In the score of Anthare 5, Desire 510 easily killed all mobile phones using Snapdragon 400 processor, but this score may also be related to the lower screen resolution of Desire 510.

In the test of BaseMark OS II, despite the faster processor, lower resolution screen and the latest Android system, the Desire 510's score performance is not ideal, and science cannot explain it.

Both single and multi-core performance met expectations.

In terms of GPU, the new Adreno 306 has no improvement compared with the old Adreno 305. The Onscreen score of 510 has the advantage of low resolution, so the score is relatively high, so it's better to look at the Offscreen score.

In Offscreen, the score of 306 is basically the same as that of 305. Visual inspection is a vest.

In BaseMark X's GPU test, 510 is ahead of most competitors using Snapdragon 400 processors, but its performance is not as good as MOTO G.

In the browser performance test, 510's JavaScript score was good, but it did not perform well in the overall rating.

In daily system operation, the Desire 510 is quick in response, smooth in system animation, and smoother in handling than most low-end mobile phones. The built-in 64 bit processor also enables the Desire 510 to perform better when upgrading the 5.0 system in the future.

Sound quality performance:

HTC's mobile phones have always had the best audio performance in the same level, and the Desire 510 is no exception. From the comparison of test data, the 510's audio performance is the best among the mobile phones of this level.

First of all, the dynamic range of the 510 is large enough to reach 93.6db, which is not inferior to the flagship mobile phones. Second, the crosstalk between sound channels of the 510 is also well controlled after the headset is inserted. All data are still significantly ahead of competitors at the same level, even better than some flagship mobile phones, We had to give HTC a thumbs up and did a good job.

Photo function:

The Desire 510's camera has 5 million pixels, but the lack of auto focus means that it is impossible to take macro photos with the 510, and HTC has not equipped it with LED fill light, so similarly, for a low-end mobile phone, we are prepared for the quality of photos.

The camera's UI is much simpler than that of the ONE series of mobile phones, but there are still various shooting scene modes. As for the shooting function, it is mainly about taking photos and videos and taking selfies. There is nothing special about it.

Sample:

The image quality of the 510 is very ordinary, basically the normal level of cheap mobile phones. The image details are not well preserved, and the tolerance of the sensor is limited. However, we are pleased that the color saturation and overall image contrast of the 510 are very good. When the light is sufficient, it can take full and vivid pictures, which is usually enough for sending friends.

Summary:

Desire 510, This mobile phone equipped with the latest Snapdragon 410 processor is still worth seeing among many cheap phones, and the price of this mobile phone remains low (the non contract price of Amazon in the United States is 92.65 dollars, About 566 yuan )At the same time, it also provides LTE network support, which is absolutely good news for users who want to taste LTE networks.

In addition, the new Snapdragon 410 processor is also a big highlight. Indeed, it is not meaningful to use a 64 bit processor on this low-end mobile phone, but at least the new 64 bit architecture can give better performance in future system upgrades and further save power on the premise of the same performance to enhance endurance, This is actually quite attractive for buyers of cheap mobile phones.

  • The fuselage has excellent workmanship and feel, but the screen proportion is low;

  • The screen contrast is excellent and the viewing angle is OK, but the resolution and brightness are low;

  • Excellent endurance performance;

  • Support the conscience of LTE network;

  • The system is smooth and responsive;

  • Performance matching the price;

  • The horn sounds too low;

  • Good video playing ability;

  • The camera performance is mediocre, without LED fill light;

  • Excellent sound quality.
