Evaluation of Droid Turbo, the second bullet of strong aircraft
Evaluation of Droid Turbo, the second bullet of strong aircraft

Motorola recently clicked the skill of "making a big news", first 360, then the new X and G, and then the NEXUS 6. When we all thought that Motorola was going to stop, it came up with the Droid Turbo, which had a terrifying specification. The last flagship before Lenovo's acquisition might even be sold internationally, Nice。

At present, Turbo is still exclusive to Verizon, which makes Turbo feel like "people under the roof" compared with flagship phones of other manufacturers. However, when it comes to the machine, the specifications of Turbo are amazing.

Specifications:

  • 5.2 inch 2560 × 1440 AMOLED screen;

  • Snapdragon 805 processor+3GB RAM, the maximum main frequency of the processor is 2.7GHz;

  • 21 megapixel camera+dual LED fill light;

  • 3900mAh built-in battery with fast charging technology;

  • Motorola CrystalTalk call noise reduction technology;

  • 32GB or 64GB memory is optional, but memory card expansion is not supported;

  • Back made of metallized glass fiber or nylon fiber.

Appearance design:

The color of the Turbo's body can be selected from red or black. Despite the brilliant red, the black Turbo is very low-key. The design of the body details is the same as that of the previous Droid series mobile phones. The front 5.2 inch screen is covered by flat glass. There is a circle of metal around the glass, and three touch buttons are below the screen.

On the top are long earphones and a 2 megapixel front camera.

The back of the Turbo is slightly curved, but not as curved as MOTO X. The use of fiber materials makes the back of the Turbo have special patterns. With the prominent Motorola logo, you will never mistake it.

The rear cover material of the machine evaluated this time is a brand new gadget called "metallized glass fiber" (MGF). This material is even stronger than DuPont's Kevlar. This material makes the Turbo look and feel excellent, and the texture will change slightly when viewed from different angles, This texture plus the red fuselage (of course, we don't have it) is completely the attitude of carrying out the brightness in the end.

There are power button and volume button on the right side of the body, while the SIM card slot is under the volume button. You can see it when you remove the volume button.

The left side naturally has nothing.

The bottom is a very conventional USB 2.0 interface.

3.5 mm headphone port at the top.

The body of the Turbo is coated with a layer of hydrophobic coating, which also makes the normal operation of the Turbo unable to be affected by a slight splash. However, this does not mean that the Turbo has waterproof capacity. If you accidentally drop water, you can count on yourself.

In terms of workmanship, the Turbo is impeccable. The whole machine is as solid as a tank, and the size of the body is controlled fairly well. The problem of single hand operation is not too big.

Screen:

The Turbo screen is one of the most exquisite on the market at present. The resolution of 2560 × 1440 is crammed in 5.2 inches, and the equivalent ppi reaches 565. This ppi can stand the test of all eyes, including the wheel eye and kaleidoscope wheel eye.

However, other data of this screen is not so beautiful. The maximum brightness measured by us is only 247 nits, which is a negative score for a flagship mobile phone. Although the brightness of AMOLED screen is really urgent, the brightness of Note 4 screen, which is also 1440p screen, can reach 468 nits. The reason for this is unknown.

In terms of visual angle, the Turbo screen inherits the characteristics of AMOLED screen and performs well.

The color of the Turbo screen is seriously oversaturated. Yes, the super high color saturation is really eye-catching, but the color accuracy is only good. However, the white color of the Turbo screen is unexpectedly accurate. The 6594K color temperature makes the white display not too cold or warm. The green color of this screen is not too excessive, and the overall balance is still there.

This screen does have shortcomings, but the super high ppi is still commendable. The hair color is really oversaturated, and the brightness is really not good. For buyers who care about these indicators, they really need to think twice. If they don't care, these two problems are more than outweigh the shortcomings in front of the amazing ppi.

Performance:

Turbo's processor is a Snapdragon 805 from Qualcomm, which can handle all daily operations, including games. Secondly, this 805 processor and Turbo's built-in language sensor and scenario processor form Motorola's so-called Motorola Mobile Computing System.

Although the performance of Turbo's processor is very strong, the 1440p screen is still a heavy burden, so it is understandable that some of the scores are not as good as those of some 801 processors with 1080p screens. For comparison, let's mainly look at G3 and NOTE 4. G3 uses Snapdragon 801, while Note 4 uses the same Snapdragon 805 as Turbo.

photograph:

The photo function of Turbo is very simple, and there are few options available for setting. The UI design is the same as that of MOTO X before. Swipe right on the screen to call up the wheel for setting adjustment, and adjust settings such as geotag photo size and photo proportion. Panorama mode is also available, and the maximum resolution of still photos is 21 million pixels.

In terms of video recording, Turbo supports video recording with a maximum resolution of 4K/24fps and 1080p/30fps, while the resolution of slow motion function is limited to 720p.

Photo proof:

The image quality of Turbo can finally be described by the word "good". Under the condition of good light, the detail performance of the photo conforms to the quality that a 21 million pixel lens should have, and the color saturation control is also very good.

In the room with poor light, the image quality is naturally discounted. However, compared with MOTO X, it has made great progress. The image brightness has been improved. Although the noise control is general and the overall image is soft, the photos taken are still good enough for the social networking sites on PO.

In terms of panoramic photos, Turbo's performance is disappointing. The maximum resolution is only about 2 million pixels (you should know that the largest panoramic sample of some flagship mobile phones can reach 50 million pixels). Moreover, the trace of image bonding is very obvious, and the color performance is too exaggerated. We hope Motorola can improve this in the software upgrade.

Endurance and charging:

The battery capacity of the Turbo has reached a nearly insane 3900 mAh. Motorola announced that the endurance of the Turbo will reach 48 hours. In our battery endurance test, Turbo's performance reached an unprecedented 10 hours and 42 minutes, even surpassing Sony Xperia Z3 Compact, which is famous for its powerful endurance. If you consider the difference between the processor and the screen, Turbo's endurance performance is completely unchanged.

In terms of charging time, Turbo performs very well. The charging time from 0 to 100 is just over 2 hours, which is very good for a mobile phone with a 3900 mAh battery. This has something to do with Motorola's fast charging technology, and Turbo also supports Qi wireless charging technology, Nice。

Summary:

Turbo, as a smart phone, is naturally excellent. Its strong performance and endurance, super fine screen and good photo performance are all good selling points. In addition, all kinds of excellence are piled up on one phone, so the cost of the phone will inevitably rise, However, the contract price jointly set by Motorola and Verizon is $200 (the total cost is $600), and the contract price of the 64GB version is $249.99 (the total cost is $650), which sounds very conscientious.

In our opinion, the biggest problem of Turbo is that it is tied to Verizon. However, there is a rumor that this machine will be sold internationally in other vests. If this rumor is true, Turbo is definitely one of the most competitive smartphones this year.

  • Strong specifications;

  • Today's strongest endurance;

  • The fineness of the screen is impeccable;

  • The system is light enough but functional enough;
