Built in NFC chip but does not support Apple Pay

IFixit, an electronic product dismantling website, unexpectedly found that the iPad Air 2 was equipped with the same NFC controller as the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Apple has never publicized this function of the iPad Air 2, and this product does not support the latest Apple Pay payment system, so the existence of this chip is puzzling.

According to GigaOM's analysis, the iPad Air 2 may be used as a cash register for small businesses. It can use the built-in NFC chip to process Apple Pay payment services without additional hardware installation. In fact, the iPad has been used by many small businesses for this function, often in conjunction with Square's credit card reader and payment services. But with Apple Pay and NFC payment technology, Apple can directly use its own payment ecosystem to help retailers complete payment.
