According to the foreign media Redmondmag, Microsoft will stop selling Windows 7 Home Edition Basic Edition, Home Premium Edition and Ultimate Edition on October 30.
After October 31, Windows 7 Professional will also be discontinued. However, Microsoft will continue to license this version to OEM manufacturers for at least one year, that is, until October 2015.
Retail stores will also stop selling Windows 8 in boxes on October 31, but OEM manufacturers can extend the period of pre installing Windows 8 for at least one year. After the above products are discontinued, retailers and OEMs will mainly sell and pre install Windows 8.1.
For enterprises that want to continue using Windows 7, they can purchase Windows 8 or 8.1 first, and then exercise the downgrade right. Only Microsoft Windows 8 or 8.1 for enterprise volume licensing has the right to downgrade, and Windows 8 or 8.1 retail does not have downgrade rights.
