High frequency Cortex-A15 Kirin 928 performance test
High frequency Cortex-A15 Kirin 928 performance test

HiSilicon Kirin 92X series chips are welcomed by many users with their excellent performance, unique power saving technology and powerful baseband. The most high-end Kirin 928 has a 2.0GHz quad core Cortex-A15 core and a 1.3GHz quad core Cortex-A7 core. How about its performance? Let's have a look:

The main character of our test is the H60-L21 Glory 6 Premium, which uses Kirin 928 processor, frequency 2.0GHz (A15 core)+1.3GHz (A7 core), 3G Ram and 32G Rom, and 1080P resolution screen.

In the evaluation of Anthare, we used the latest V5.1.5 to test, and the running score exceeded 43000 points, which was a certain improvement compared with Kirin 920 and 925. However, due to the low GPU score, the total score was not as "beautiful" as other high-end SoCs.

Pi is 10 million bits, which tests the performance of CPU single core floating point operation. Kirin 928 took nearly 28 seconds to complete, and the result was satisfactory.

The shorter the time, the better.

Hardware decodes 1080P 60FPS ref=15 mp4 video to test CPU multi-core universal performance, The frame number of Kirin 928 in the first half of the video can reach more than 50 frames, and the second half begins to reduce the frequency. The average frame number of the whole video is close to 47, which is almost identical with the performance of Kirin 920. It proves that the Cortex-A15 is difficult to maintain high frequency in such a small cooling space of the mobile phone at 28nm.

The webpage Javascript performance Sunspider 1.0.2 was tested with Chrome Beta, and the result was 622ms (the lower the better). Compared with Kirin 920, it has made some progress, but not much improvement.

Sunspider 1.0.2 score comparison: Android devices use Chrome for testing, and iOS devices use their own Safari. The browser has a great impact on the test results, so the comparison between different platforms is only for reference.

The GBA simulator frame number test tests the performance of the CPU single core. It can be seen that one of the A15 cores has the highest occupancy rate and the highest frequency of 2.0GHz. The frame number exceeds 180, which is similar to the result of the Snapdragon 805 with the frequency of up to 2.7GHz. However, it still does not display the strength of the high-frequency Cortex-A15.

RAR performance test. This test is to test the performance of the CPU's L2 cache. At the same time, multi-core processors will have a greater advantage in this test. From the score, Kirin 928's performance is not satisfactory, even lower than that of Kirin 920. The measured result is only around 1300KB/s. It is estimated that the system optimization is not good enough.

Kirin 928 and Kirin 920 both use Mali-T624mp4 in GPU, with a frequency of 600MHz. Their GPUs are the same in size and frequency, and their measured results are also highly consistent. In the performance test of GFXBench 3.0, a commonly used GPU, we conducted off screen tests on Manhattan and Tyrannosaurus Rex scenes. The results showed that the number of frames in Manhattan was satisfactory, even surpassing the Mali-T628mp6 of Exynos 5420. The performance of the Tyrannosaurus Rex scene is relatively ordinary, and there is still a gap between the frame number of Mali-T628mp6. The frames of Kirin 928 and Kirin 920 are almost the same To.

Kirin 928 supports the eMMC 4.5 standard, and we also conducted a flash speed test for the Glory 6 Premium. We use Samsung's 32G flash memory chip for this machine.

A1 SD Bench is used to test the flash memory speed. The writing is much better than Glory 6, but the reading speed is not ideal.

From this test, it can be seen that the Kirin 928 is a Kirin 920 and Kirin 925 slightly overclocking product in terms of performance. However, due to the 28nm process, the Kirin 928 cannot be stabilized at the high frequency of 2.0GHz for a long time. Of course, this is a problem for most Cortex-A15 core processors. However, the higher dominant frequency has improved the instant performance of the Kirin 928 to a certain extent, and the overall response of the system will be better than that of the Kirin 920. In terms of GPU, the performance of the two is almost identical, and HiSilicon has not overclocked Mali-T624mp4.

If you don't brush the machine, don't overclock, and don't bother, you will die
