The latest data released by GeekBench shows that although the newly released Mac mini has slightly improved its single core performance, its multi-core performance is much worse than that of the 2012 high-end Mac mini (quad core Ivy Bridge). The multi-core/maximum performance of the new Mac mini (dual core Haswell) is only about 70% of that year.
There are two main reasons for speculation:
This year's four core Haswell interface is different from the dual core Haswell interface. To promote the four core Haswell, you need to design different motherboards for Mac mini with different configurations;
With Apple's design capability, it is possible to design two versions, but the price of the Mac mini can't be controlled at $499.
