Galaxy Note 4

Since the Galaxy Note three years ago, Samsung has captured the hot spot of large screen phones. For a long time, the Galaxy Note has been almost synonymous with large screen phones. What new features does Galaxy Note 4 bring to me this time?

Galaxy Note Edge

Galaxy Note Edge is a brand new product. Its most special feature is the addition of a 160 pixel curved screen on the side of the 2K level Super AMOLED. This screen can display different contents such as system notifications, application menus, health information, etc. It can be regarded as an "extended screen".

As can be seen from the above figure, the layout of the entire launcher is very different from the Samsung TouchWiz in the scene. The dock bar has disappeared, and no application icon can be seen below the launcher. Instead, the content of the previous dock bar is displayed on the 160 pixel curved surface. In addition, the side screen of the Note Edge can view the time information with a tap when the screen is locked, which is more convenient and fast than lighting the whole screen.

In terms of functionality and ease of use, many users have doubts about the side screen of Note Edge. They will think that this feature is purely fancy. The author believes that the side screen of Note Edge is designed for the following reasons:

1. Technical strength demonstration There are only a few curved screen mobile phones on the market, and G Flex and Samsung's Galaxy Round are both exploratory products of curved screen. The Galaxy Round is even only listed in South Korea for various reasons. This time, the strategy of Note Edge is obviously much stronger. The global listing also proves that Samsung's technology in curved screen is becoming more and more mature.

2. Product differentiation The Android hardware arms race has been going on for a long time. At this stage, manufacturers need a truly differentiated experience to stand out from many mobile phones. The side screen of Note Edge is a new operating experience that takes advantage of its own technical advantages. Maybe camera control, sidebar, and viewing time can also be done well on the main screen, but Note Edge brings us a new operation mode.

3. Promotional selling points . Many users are amazed after seeing the screen of Note Edge, and some even think that the shape of Note Edge is not pleasing, but they are willing to try curved screen and corresponding new operation forms.

Common advantages of the new Note

In addition to the SoC advantages mentioned above, the two new models of the Galaxy Note series also have strong performance in other aspects of hardware. Both phones use Super AMOLED with a resolution of 2560 * 1440. We have seen this type of screen on the Galaxy S5 Broadband LTE-A. The color performance has great advantages over the previous Super AMOLED. In addition, the greatly improved resolution can bring clearer screen performance. In terms of cameras, the two products of the new Note series both use Sony IMX240 sensors. The sensor size is 1/2.6 inch, and OIS optical anti shake is added for the first time. It seems that Samsung mobile phones, which used to have weak night scenes, are expected to have a big turnaround. As for the front camera, Samsung has added a 3.7 million pixel front camera with aperture F1.9 to the new Note, and finally gave up the 2 million pixel front camera. Of course, we can't ignore that Note 4 and Note Edge have added metal materials to the middle frame. After a long period of "big plastic", Samsung has finally used metal materials on the phone case.
