The style of Sony's recently launched wearable devices is quite different from that of its competitors. When LG G Watch R, Moto 360 and Asus ZenWatch all seek inspiration from traditional watch styles, Sony SmartWatch 3 has a modern appearance, which is very low-key, and even looks like a cheap electronic watch.
The strap of the SmartWatch 3 extends to the edge of the display, wrapping the entire display. But the rubber material looks a bit cheap, making the whole smart watch look more like an advanced health tracker than a luxury smart watch.
However, the shape of the whole surface has made great progress. Its back is made of brushed stainless steel, which looks quite exquisite. At the same time, the watch clip is also very modern.
Sony does not return to the traditional luxury watch style like Moto 360 and G Watch R released by Motorola and LG. SmartWatch 3 is more like a health product. It is equipped with accelerator, compass, gyroscope and GPS to illustrate this point. In addition, it is the first smart watch to reach IP68 (almost all other smart watches only reach IP67). Its waterproof function is very powerful, and it is no problem to dive with it.
Compared with LG's G Watch, the brightness of the SmartWatch 3's 1.6 inch LED display with a resolution of 320 × 320 looks brighter.
SmartWatch 3 is Sony's first Android Wear smart watch, with a simple and elegant user interface. Compared with other round smartwatches, the SmartWatch 3 is lighter and smaller.
One of the interesting ways is to replace the watch strap. Smart Watch 3 does not have a 22mm watch strap, which is standard for smart watches. Instead, it uses a rubber watch strap wrapped around the edge of the display. So if you want to replace the watch strap, you must "take it off" the monitor.
The strap is unique to Sony, so you cannot replace the traditional 22mm strap for it, which is inconvenient. But the good news is that after the release of black and lime green watchbands, Sony has announced that it will soon release white and pink watchbands, and users will have more choices.
Our first impressions of SmartWatch 3 are more or less general and mixed. Roughly speaking, compare this device with LG G Watch. It has a good functional design and a more sporty appearance, but the appearance is really not brilliant. It is low. What Sony hopes to do is a new product that pays more attention to health and less attention to dazzling appearance, so as to attract consumers who do not like the gorgeous appearance of Moto 360 and G Watch R (of course, perhaps because of the price).
At least, it is equipped with Android Wear. Last year's Smart Watch 2, which ran Sony's own system and felt unprofessional, could already be thrown into the historical trash can.
