Headphone revolution: OwnPhones
Headphone revolution: OwnPhones

Not long ago, a company named OwnPhones in California launched a crowdfunding campaign for its customized headphones on Kickstarter. In this era of focusing on personalization, "customization" is obviously a very attractive service. In fact, customized services are not new for a long time. The novelty of OwnPhones lies in its "popularity" and "universality", which makes small earphones become luxury accessories. In addition, OwnPhones also has a unique social function.

Although OwnPhones does not jump out of the category of traditional Bluetooth headsets, it has completely upgraded private customization to another level.

The OwnPhones mobile application turns the phone's camera into a 3D scanner. Through a few simple steps, users can create a short video clip around their ears. Then the OwnPhones server converts the video into their 3D ear model.

Finally, select relevant materials according to the needs of users, and use the new 3D printing technology to produce products.

If these are not attractive to you, then OwnPhones also has a very humanized "OwnStatus" social function. OwnStatus is an LED indicator light installed on the headset. Users can set it to red, yellow and green on their mobile phones, and use green light to indicate that the wearer is willing to chat; Yellow indicates that the wearer is busy; Red indicates that the host does not want to be disturbed.

OwnPhones fits perfectly on your ears, so it can be used to block noise. A digital signal processor is built in the OwnPhones, which can intelligently filter out the noisy background sound in the environment. You can also set it in the APP on the mobile phone end to let some specific sounds (alarm sounds, friends' shouts, etc.) enter your ears. The two earphones of OwnPhones can be controlled separately. When you are driving, you can turn on one and turn off the other.

For such a high-tech "wonderful" headset, the company expects that its product can achieve 5-6 hours of life, or even integrate a microphone. Of course, its price is not cheap, up to $399. It is expected to officially provide services in March 2015.
