Fonderie 47 turns AK-47 into a watch

Swiss watch manufacturer Fonderie 47 launched a luxury watch Inversion Principle, whose body is made of AK-47 assault rifle steel with some related design elements. Officials say that part of the profits from the sale of watches will be used to help aid Africa.

The Inversion Principle is designed by Adrian Glessing, manufactured by David Candaux/Du Val Des Bois and produced in La Vall é e de Joux, Switzerland. The watch is set with a gold frame of sapphire crystal, and its design is inspired by the sight of AK-47. However, its design is more related to the operation mechanism of the table than the appearance.

There is a floating tourbillon movable structure in the middle of the dial, which, together with the golden counterweight, drives three seconds hands distributed at 120 degrees in the tourbillon to run.

The rotation speed of these hands is only one third of that of the ordinary second hand, so a minute is marked by only one third of the translucent glass dial. With each minute recorded by the hands, when it leaves the line of sight, it will be replaced by the next hand at the beginning of the arc. The retrograde minute hand will jump back to its original position at the end of every hour, which is like the firing of a pistol.

The watch also has two power reserve indicators that can reach 6 days. The one on the back looks a little traditional, but the second quick scanning instrument behind the sapphire window on the side is like the injector on the AK-47.

At the same time, on the back of the watch, there is a black disc based on the pattern of solar radiation twisted rope. This rotary disc is made of steel on the destroyed AK-47, which not only bears the logo of Fonderie 47, but also has the serial number "56-3701F42" (serial number of the material rifle).

The case of Inversion Principle is 42mm × 14.6mm, with 18k white gold and 18k red gold available, and the waterproof grade is up to 30m. It is equipped with a hand sewn crocodile leather watchband and a platinum pin buckle, and can also be equipped with brown or black leather watchbands, which match the red gold and white gold watchcases respectively.

At present, there are tens of thousands of guns and weapons in Africa, and Fonderie 47 expressed the hope that the sales proceeds of high-end watches can be used to destroy African guns and weapons. According to Fonderie 47, more than 30000 AK-47s have been destroyed so far.

"The Inversion Principle must reflect the best Swiss watchmaking tradition, our principles and our mission, and at the same time, it must be truly innovative. It's not easy, but with a great team, I think we have achieved this goal well and truly. " Said Peter Thum, founder of Fonderie 47.

The Inversion Principle is limited to 20 pieces, 10 pieces in platinum and 10 pieces in red gold. The price is 195000 dollars.
