According to Bloomberg, Apple and Samsung Electronics began to gradually end the global patent war. On the same day, the two companies said in a joint statement that they had reached an agreement on litigation outside the United States and rescinded all litigation against each other in Australia, Japan, South Korea, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, France and Italy.
This agreement shows that Apple and Samsung are about to end their protracted global patent litigation. In these lawsuits, Apple accused Samsung of plagiarizing the iPhone design, and Samsung in turn accused Apple of using its wireless transmission technology without permission. Neither side has won a decisive victory, and the judges have constantly urged them to reconcile.
Before today's announcement, the two companies had shown signs of cooling down. In June, Apple and Samsung reached an agreement to withdraw the patent infringement claim in the International Trade Commission (ITC) of the United States. In May, Apple and Google also reached an agreement to revoke the patent lawsuit against Motorola Mobile. However, Apple and Samsung said in a statement that they had not completely ended the legal war and had not reached a cross licensing agreement.
