The hammer phone Smartisan T1, which was widely expected, was finally released on the special day of May 20, 2014. We were also impressed by Luo Yonghao's various early publicity before the conference, but what kind of phone did Lao Luo bring us after his passionate speech? Let's have a look.
1. Is the hardware "hot" enough?
Maybe many people still think that Android hardware has "surplus". In fact, when it comes to 1080P or even 1440P, the requirements for mobile phone configuration are much higher than those in the previous 720P era. There are not many SoCs that can run smoothly on 1080P. What about the configuration of the hammer? See the following table:
From this comparison list, the Smartisan T1 (hereinafter referred to as T1) has reached the top level of Android phones in terms of configuration, and is at the same level as the Galaxy S5 and Xshot hardware as a whole. However, looking at the specific configuration separately, it seems that no T1 is better than the phones at the same level. However, compared with ordinary mobile phones, T1 has added an OPA2604 op amp, which theoretically will have better sound quality than ordinary mobile phones. However, in the face of vivo's "stacking" game, the hardware is still inferior. In line with the trend, T1 also uses a 1080P level screen, which is matched with Qualcomm's strongest MSM8X74AC. The smoothness is fundamentally guaranteed. At the same time, it also uses the eMMC5.0 flash memory chip supported by Snapdragon 801 to further enhance the experience. Now many people who use Snapdragon 801 chip use eMMC4.5 flash memory, while T1 uses eMMC5.0 flash memory chip in a more "generous" way, and there is only one mobile phone in the market. The camera uses the IMX214 sensor commonly used in high-end mobile phones, which is used on Find7, OnePlus and Xshot. Lao Luo also said that T1's photo taking effect is second only to iPhone in mobile phones, and the actual effect remains to be tested. In general, all aspects of the configuration of Hammer T1 are commendable, but it has no special advantages over competing products.
2. Smartisan OS is really so "emotional"?
Some Hammer fans will say that mobile phones with "feelings" are not only about configuration, but also about Smartisan OS. Smartisan OS is an in-depth customization system based on Android. From the perspective of the system launcher, it is very different from the general Android and related customization systems. It adopts the setting of Jiugongs+dock bar. Without the concept of wallpaper, the entire desktop is composed of squares. The size of icons and the distance between icons are much larger than that of general mobile phones. The animation and interaction of the launcher have their own characteristics
While looking at other aspects of the system, it seems that there are not many things that really attract us. For example, the drop-down bar, system settings, etc. are relatively common, and are not very different from other Android customized systems
Some system applications of Smartisan OS are more distinctive, such as the clock function with cool animation:
Self contained SMS with five second "regret" function:
The characteristic function "OCD option" can hide the icon of the launcher and quickly clear the corner
In general, Smartisan OS gives people the impression that it is a distinctive Android system, but in the face of MIUI, Flyme and other old brands, it seems that the so-called "feelings" are also a little weak. Of course, we must also be sure that the initiator of Smartisan OS and some small functions in the system are really innovative.
3. How to make a good mobile phone at the price of 4000 yuan?
For a domestic mobile phone, many manufacturers are worried about its pricing. If it is set too high, it will not be cost-effective. If it is set too low, it will be scolded for playing price war. The domestic mobile phones using Snapdragon 801 platform range from 1699 yuan to 3498 yuan. The market strategies and positioning of each company are very different. The domestic mobile phones with a price of 3000 yuan are already among the high prices. T1 is divided into four versions according to the different supporting networks and ROM capacities. The lowest price is the 16G ROM version of 3G network, with a price of 3000 yuan. This is a little high compared with other brand products. Maybe many fans of Laoluo will say that T1 is not about cost performance, but about "feelings". But for a product whose hardware and software are not particularly superior, it seems that the premium ability of the product remains to be discussed. For the top T1, the price of 4G network+32G Rom is 3650 yuan. Although it does not reach the legendary price of 4000 yuan, it is already quite high for domestic mobile phones. In addition, we can buy a mobile phone with 2K screen, 3G Ram and some selling points for less than 3500 yuan. Why choose T1? Unless it is really "belief", users who have a demand for 4G can buy products of other brands. After all, it is not worth spending 500 yuan more for "feelings".
