Cross border Wonder Huawei Glory X1 Experience Evaluation
Cross border Wonder Huawei Glory X1 Experience Evaluation

Aiming at the pursuit of large screens, Huawei proudly launched X1, a cross-border tablet product. Is it a mobile phone or a tablet with a screen of 7 inches? How will the large screen improve the daily experience? What's the new pattern of Hisense processor? With these questions, let's experience this big movie.

From the configuration table, the most eye-catching feature of Glory X1 must be the 1920 * 1200 resolution 7-inch screen, which can be described as a breakthrough between mobile phones and tablets. The return of HiSilicon Kirin 910 with 28nm process is also the focus of attention.

Appearance design:

Compared with the packaging of models launched by Huawei Glory before, the packaging design of Glory X1 is more beautiful and generous, which is of course related to its 7-inch large screen. The basic blue color with bright fonts is really a little simple and atmospheric. The pull out design is also unique.

The accessories are still the old three traditional ones - pin, data cable and charging head. They are not as generous as other domestic manufacturers to send film and protective case. Since the capacity of Glory X1 battery has reached the monster level of 5000mAh, the charging head has also been upgraded to 2A input.

The appearance design of Glory X1 is nothing special. The narrow frame design makes the circumference slightly smaller than expected. Glory X1 occupies most of the area of a 7-inch screen on the front, which is consistent and balanced from top to bottom, left to right, and well coordinated.

Glory X1 places all physical keys and card slots on the same side. The solid keys are made of metal, which is quite powerful in hand feel and texture.

Interestingly, the storage card slot and SIM card slot of Glory X1 are uniform and symmetrical in appearance and location, and there is no identification. It will be inexplicable when used. This design is quite to my taste.

The mirco USB connector and headphone jack on the bottom and top.

Compared with the front, the back of Glory X1 is more wonderful. There is no doubt that the large-area metal material can improve the feel and texture, and it is also very helpful for heat dissipation. Of course, the three-stage design on the back of Glory X1 is also familiar. The upper left corner and lower right corner are the rear camera and speaker respectively.

Frankly speaking, one hand operation must be sacrificed for large screen. If you want to have both, the current solutions are still not perfect. The 7-inch large screen of Glory X1 makes it possible to hold and operate only one corner with one hand. Fortunately, the four corners of Glory X1 are very round, and it is not easy to drop even if you hold it with one hand.

Shooting ability:

Glory X1 uses the combination of 5 million pixels in the front and 13 million pixels in the rear. It can compete with the flagship model in terms of pixels, but the aperture of F2.2 is really not good enough. However, on the shooting interface, the 7-inch screen of Glory X1 was not optimized, and it was a little awkward to copy it mechanically to become larger. There is no special change in function, but several points are quite interesting.

Although the 13 million pixels of Glory X1 can compete with the flagship model in terms of pixels, it is a bit difficult to choose from in terms of overall quality. There are many shooting problems with Glory X1. First, the details are heavily smeared, which is particularly obvious in some large color blocks such as petals. Second, there is a small probability of white balance drift, and the overall picture is cold. The last is the exposure error of the above figure.

Large color blocks such as petals and other details are heavily smeared, which is also a small problem often found in low-end models.

Frequent over exposure of focused objects.

Although the above three problems are really troublesome for daily use, we have to say that Glory X1's performance on green is really good. The proof performance of Glory X1 when shooting green objects is really impeccable, and the color performance can be described as bright.

In addition to its green performance, Glory X1 is also surprising on HDR. In addition to dark corners, the transition and performance of HDR samples are quite surprising.

System UI:

Glory X1 uses Huawei's own Emotion 2.0 based on Android 4.2.2. Compared with Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo and other manufacturers' own OS, it does not have much advantage. Emotion 2.0 adopts the desktop free design commonly used by domestic manufacturers, and various functions are also necessary.

The Emotion 2.0 of Glory X1 has many settings. Even the 7-inch screen has to be slid three times. If there is not much to say about Emotion 2.0 in terms of interface design, it is quite interesting in terms of function settings.

In the network settings of Emotion 2.0, the function called "Internet Acceleration" is essentially compression processing through the server, and also can set image quality and advertisement filtering. This function is very practical for users with valuable traffic.

Powerful power saving management enables switching between power saving modes. At the same time, it can detect power consumption for better optimization settings, and can also check the background applications to identify power consumption, which is very powerful.

In the domestic system, it has been the standard configuration of authority management and notification management.

Various gesture controls and hover window preview.

The hover button is quite easy to use on Glory X1. If you say that there is one hand optimization in function settings, this hover button is the best answer. The hover button can move its position at will, which is suitable for users' habits. By clicking the hover button, more functions will appear, making it easy to use common functions such as calendar, SMS, and hover widgets.

Performance and endurance:

Glory X1 adopts the Kirin 910 launched by HiSilicon Semiconductor, a subsidiary of Huawei, which is also the legendary K3V2 Pro. HiSilicon Kirin 910 uses the Cortex A9 architecture of 28nm HPM process. It has four cores, with the highest frequency of 1.6GHz. The GPIU is Mali-450 MP4. This configuration seems to be somewhat similar to the Snapdragon 400 and MT6592. From the run points in the above table, at least in terms of theoretical run points, this Kirin 910 will not disappoint.

Although the theoretical score of Kirin 910 is not inferior to that of Snapdragon 400 and MT6592, this SoC is not powerful in actual use and game experience. The latest version of Wild Racing 8 was used for the actual test. Glory X1 wandered between 15 and 19 frames during the game. Occasionally, frame dropping occurred and the smoothness of the game was greatly affected.

The only thing to be thankful for is that the calorific value of Glory X1 is very low. Maybe because of the SoC performance, or because of the heat dissipation of the metal material on the back, after 15 minutes of running wild drag racing 8, the back of Glory heated up as a whole, the maximum temperature was 33 ° C, and the rest was about 30 ° C, which was very similar to the performance of the previous MT6589T model.

In most daily operations, Glory X1 is smooth, but there is almost a sense of stuttering in screenshots, sliding up and down lists, etc. This can only be attributed to the fact that the system optimization is far from keeping up with the performance improvement.

The most powerful thing of Glory X1 is its 5000mAh large battery. In 15 minutes of wild racing, there are 8 kinds of cars, only 6% of which are powered down. The result is very excellent. In daily use, if it is only used lightly, such as microblog communication, it can be recharged every four or even five days.

Summary:

In my consistent impression, the big guy usually represents the big energy. Because large volume can have more volume and cooling space to accommodate more powerful hardware configurations. Although the 7-inch screen is really impressive in terms of visual effects, it's a pity that Glory X1's moderate performance in all aspects is really disappointing. If there is anything exciting about Glory X1, it may be its price and endurance.

To be frank, Huawei's HiSilicon Kirin 910 uses 32bit single channel LPDDR3-1600 (bandwidth: 6.4GB/s), which is not enough for 1920 * 1200 resolution. Even though Glory X1 has a 7-inch large screen and 5000mAh battery, its low performance makes the actual experience a little less attractive. I hope the system upgrade can better tap the performance potential.
