8064 out of Qualcomm APQ8084 data leakage again
8064 out of Qualcomm APQ8084 data leakage again

stay CES2013 Qualcomm announced the latest Snapdragon 800 series SoC - MSM8974. Its powerful performance makes many mobile phone players covet it. Today, the foreign media leaked the information of APQ8084, which is more powerful than the MSM8974 in specification. It uses the 2.3GHz Krait core and the new Adreno 420 GPU. The powerful performance points directly to Tegra4 and Exynos 5 OCTA

The MSM8974 uses a new Krait core with a frequency of up to 2.3Ghz, and the GPU is Adreno 330. The CPU part of APQ8084, which is newly announced, is also a quad core 2.3GHz Krait core, so the CPU performance is at the same level as that of MSM8974. However, in terms of GPU, APQ8084 uses Adreno420 of Adreno4 series. The performance of Adreno330 on MSM8974 has surpassed that of Adreno 320, the strongest Android phone in service, with the pixel filling reaching 3600Mpix/s, while Adreno320 is 3200Mpix/s. The latest Adreno 420 will bring more powerful performance, with pixel filling reaching 4000Mpix/s.

The default frequency of Adreno 420 is 500MHz, while Adreno 320 and Adreno 330 are 450MHz and 400MHz respectively. In addition, Adreno 420 will support DX11, while Adreno 320 and 330 both support DX9.3. In addition, Adreno 420 will support ultra-high resolution output of up to 2560 * 2048, which is very useful for Android tablets that exceed full HD resolution.

In addition to the super strong APQ8084 and Adreno 420, there is also an APQ8074 SoC in Qualcomm's official form, which uses Adreno 330. The overall specification is similar to that of MSM8974. SoCs starting with MSM, such as MSM8974, are mostly used in mobile phones because they are integrated baseband chips, while SoCs starting with APQ (APQ8064, 8074, 8084, etc.) are designed for tablets, and they require manufacturers to add additional baseband chips to work on mobile phones.

Although from the data, APQ8084 is very attractive, and it is believed that it will also bring about another leap in the level of Android device hardware, but its launch is a bit late. It may not appear until 2014. Maybe we will see it on CES2014.
