Jolla, It is a Finnish mobile phone company formed by the former Nokia MeeGo operating system team, and is committed to developing smart phones based on the Sailfish operating system. Jolla attaches great importance to the Chinese market and has set up a data center in Hong Kong, while the mobile phone chain D-Phone will be its first partner in China.
Jolla is currently developing mobile phones and operating systems simultaneously. Jolla's first private brand mobile phone is expected to be launched in 2013, mainly for the high-end market (Pienimaki believes that there is only a dead end to the low-end route). It will be equipped with the Sailfish operating system (as shown in the above figure), which is an open source complete operating system+UI, supporting multi task operation, and is suitable for smart phones, set-top boxes, smart TVs and the automobile industry.
Sami Pienimaki, Co founder of Jolla
Jolla's profit model includes selling Jolla branded mobile phones and authorizing the Sailfish operating system to OEM manufacturers. Pienimaki hopes that the Sailfish operating system can become an excellent OS alternative to Android.
In addition, Pienimaki publicized that Jolla has an IPO plan, and Hong Kong and Scandinavia are its listing targets.
