According to the technology blog Theverge, Microsoft is secretly developing a 7-inch game tablet called "Xbox Surface". Insiders said that the hardware specifications of this Xbox Surface had been exposed before the launch of the Surface tablet in June this year, while the latest news from Theverge was about the previous hardware specifications, and the final deployment was in progress.
This product is likely to adopt customized ARM processor and high bandwidth RAM design to meet the requirements of the game. The hardware structure of the Xbox Surface is also relatively independent. Instead of running the full version of Windows, it only runs the customized Windows kernel. In terms of functions, the Xbox Surface will also support other tablet functions such as messaging and tablet, but the focus is still on games.
The insider also said that Xbox Surface is likely to be produced in the factory that produces the surface. However, Microsoft's next-generation video game console (Xbox 720) will still be manufactured by contract manufacturers such as Hoasus and Foxconn.
Theverge has contacted Microsoft to verify the above information, and a Microsoft spokesman is noncommittal.
