To be fair, the two phones in this comparative test try to keep the same except for the screen resolution. We use OPPO Find 7 Standard (2K screen+MSM8974AC+3G Ram+32G Rom, ColorOS 1.2) and One plus mobile phone (1080P screen+MSM8974AC+3G Ram+16G Rom, ColorOS 2.0). It can be seen that the two use the same SoC, namely the MSM8974AC of Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 series. This chip uses a quad core Krait 400 2.5GHz, with 578MHz Adreno 330, plus dual channel LPDDR-3 933MHz (memory bandwidth up to 14.9Gb/s), which is the most commonly used chip in high-end mobile phones.
In addition, the "physique" (PVS value) of the standard version of Find 7 we tested here is 5, while the "physique" of one plus is 8, which may have some impact on the frequency reduction of the processor in the game. This is a common GPU performance test. In the past, we used Offscreen, that is, off screen testing. The equipment was tested in a 1080P environment, which shows the performance gap of pure GPU. This time, because we mainly consider the impact of resolution on performance, we use Onscreen to test. Here are the test results:
Because of the high resolution of Find 7 standard version, the number of scene frames in such high intensity operation is really ugly. The Manhattan scene even has only 6.6 frames.
For one and the other, Offscreen and Onscreen are both 1080P, so you are familiar with the frame numbers of these two scenes and they play normally.

The first is the standard version of Find 7. This is not the game limit frame number, but the average frame number is 31 after playing a round, which means that many times the frame number of the game is less than 30, so it is not very smooth to play, but users with low requirements will not feel that there is any big problem.

The best speed car 17 is also our old friend, and the version number has never been updated, but it has high support for Snapdragon 801. The average frame number of Find 7 standard version is 33, which is not very high ▼

Modern War 4 (1.1.6)
Since the special effects of Snapdragon 800/801 are relatively low when running Modern War 4, and the pressure on the GPU is not high enough, we use the "artifact" GLTools (requiring root) to forcibly simulate the GPU into SGX544 before running the game.

From this game test, under the same condition of using MSM8974AC, the performance of mobile phones with 2K screens in large-scale games is indeed significantly different from that of mobile phones with 1080P screens. Among the several games we tested, the standard version of Find 7 can only guarantee relatively good fluency in real racing 3, and there is a big gap between wild racing 7 and top class racing 17. Of course, for such a large game, we can be forgiven for the poor performance of the 2K screen phone, and the MSM8974AC has been able to better meet the requirements of the 2K screen in daily use.
