So, what do you know about intelligent metal OIS? Intelligent metal OIS is an anti shake function that uses memory metal to realize automatic focusing and shooting images. Because of this memory metal, the pictures taken by the mobile phone camera will be clearer than those taken by ordinary optical anti shake.
The motor used by the intelligent metal OIS can realize the anti shake function by rotating the entire camera module, which has obvious advantages over other optical anti shake functions that only rotate the lens group. (Figure 1 and Figure 2)

When the whole module rotates under the drive of the motor, the position of the actual lens and the photosensitive chip remains relatively unchanged. The change of the position of the whole module can be understood as the change of the incidence angle. This change does not change much for the original optical design of the lens module and the production proofreading of the module. The image quality can also be guaranteed to be the same as that of the factory. However, if only the lens is rotated, the optical axis of the whole lens will change from the original assembly, so the image quality in the center may not change much, but the edge image quality will decline quickly, especially in the high pixel module (the current high pixel module gradually requires dynamic adjustment technology to achieve the uniformity of the entire image quality).

Smart metal is actually a memory metal. When the temperature changes, the shape of the metal will change. The amount of deformation change of metal depends on the Young's modulus of metal. This force can be more than 100 times, or even 1000 times, than the force driven by VCM, depending on different metal materials. This is also the reason why the intelligent metal OIS can quickly and accurately adjust the module rotation.

In addition, as we all know, the chip of mobile phone camera is driven by a motor. This smart metal OIS uses a motor made of metal wire with a diameter of 25um, and its drive is correspondingly miniaturized. Compared with the size of VCM OIS (OIS usually used for mobile phone cameras) 11x11x5.5 motor, the motor used for smart metal can achieve 8x8x4, which is very suitable for the current development of smart phones that tend to be thin and light.
