Entering the Quad HD era, LG G3 launched its first evaluation
Entering the Quad HD era, LG G3 launched its first evaluation

LG officially released its latest flagship G3 on May 27. This phone has attracted a large number of users' attention before it was released. As the third generation of G series flagship phones, it has a 5.5 inch 2560 * 1440 screen, which also makes it one of the phones with the clearest screen in the world. In addition, the G3 also has advanced technologies such as laser focusing and optical anti shake. We got the Korean version of the G3 at the first time, so let's see it first:

Unpacking and appearance

We got the white G3, and the black, white and gold colors all use the gold packaging ▼

There are some key parameters on the back. Quad HD screen, Snapdragon 801 processor, 1W power speaker, optical anti shake, laser focusing and other features are really overbearing ▼

Open the package, the first layer is the mobile phone body ▼

Unlike G2, the white version of G3 is also covered with black areas on the front, not just the screen. Users have different opinions on this "panda" color matching ▼

From left to right, the top is led signal light, front 2 megapixel camera, light sensor and distance sensor, earpiece ▼

The led signal light is small in size and has various colors to display different statuses ▼

The white area at the bottom has regular line patterns, and the brand logo ▼ is on it

The back of the fuselage is complicated. Let's see what ▼ is there

The shape near the camera is already a bit scary. G3 continues the design of the rear button that G2 began to use. A laser sensor is added on the left side of the camera, and a double color temperature led fill light ▼ is on the right side of the camera

The surface texture of the keys on the back of the fuselage has been greatly changed. The volume key has been changed to granular, and the silver power key in the middle has been changed to concentric circle design ▼

When the camera is working, the laser focusing module next to it will also work at the same time, emitting red light to measure the focusing distance ▼

The speaker is moved to the back of the body. Like the G Pro 2, this speaker has 1W high power ▼

We can see the lines on the back of the fuselage from a macro perspective. It looks like brushed metal, but it is actually plastic

There are infrared sensors and noise reduction microphones on the top of the fuselage. Since we have the Korean version, there is also an antenna ▼

This antenna has no effect on domestic users ▼

There is a Micro USB interface, 3.5mm headphone interface and call microphone ▼ at the bottom

▼ on the left side of the fuselage

There is a cover opening slot ▼ below the right side of the fuselage

You can easily pry open the back cover by hand. From here, you can also see that G3's "brushed metal middle frame" is actually plastic

G3 still continues the fine tradition of G2 Korean version, with removable back cover and battery, NFC coil placed on the back cover ▼

The battery capacity is 3000mAh, Yantai Taixi Electronics Manufacturing ▼

The design of the card slot is the same as that of some Samsung mobile phones. The tf card slot and micro SIM card slot overlap ▼

The speaker at the lower left corner may be larger than ordinary mobile phones due to its large power ▼

Remove the logo ▼ with Knockcode lock screen on the phone holder

The second layer of the package is the accessories and instructions ▼

The accessories of Korean version G3 can be described as "conscience of the industry". Double charging and double charging are particularly generous ▼

The charging current of the power adapter is 1.8A, and the measured charging time from 9% to 100% is about 95 minutes ▼

An original seat charge is included, and it can also serve as a mobile phone holder ▼

The battery can be placed on the side of the seat charger ▼

Seat charging current is 1.5A ▼

The attached earphone is LG's QuadBeat 2. This earphone has appeared ▼ in LG's previous products

Due to the ultra narrow border design, G3 is easier to hold ▼ than other phones with 5.5 inch screens

Border close-up ▼ of G3

Since there is a large area of black on the front of the fuselage, the "black edge" of the G3 screen is not obvious, and objectively speaking, the black edge of the G3 screen has been well controlled ▼

Although G3 looks large, its weight is not too exaggerated. It is only 149g, so it doesn't feel heavy ▼

The back is in a certain arc to improve the grip ▼

5.5 inch Quad HD level screen with excellent effect ▼

screen

G3 is the first mobile phone with 2K level screen used by a foreign manufacturer. It also ranks with Find 7 Standard Edition as the mobile phone with the clearest screen in the world. The 5.5 inch Quad HD resolution screen has super clear picture performance. We also used G3 and Find 7 Standard Edition to make some comparisons:

There is little difference between solid red and green ▼

There is a big difference between the two in white contrast. The G3 screen is obviously warm, which is yellow in comparison. Find 7 is slightly red ▼

The light leakage performance of Find 7 standard version is well controlled. G3 has obvious light leakage in the lower left corner and the lower right corner ▼

In contrast test, G3 performs slightly better (the more words are displayed, the better) ▼

In the gray scale test, G3 is also obviously better than Find 7 (the more squares you can see, the better) ▼

Compared with the portrait photos, G3 is closer to the original picture, and the details are more outstanding, while Find 7 is a bit "over beautifying". Although the color is flattering, it is a bit distorted ▼

Original drawing reference:

The contrast of landscape photos, G3 details are still outstanding, and the contrast is higher ▼

Original drawing reference:

Compared with the positive visual angle, the two performances are similar ▼

LG's "death diagonal" still seems to have not been overcome by the G3 generation, and the overall picture of this angle is white. Of course, ordinary users don't need to mind this problem. After all, no one will look at mobile phones from this perspective ▼

UI and System

The UI of G3 is greatly changed, and the overall style tends to be flat and simple color matching ▼

The new Smart Notice plug-in consists of weather, clock and notification ▼

Music plug-in ▼

There is still a two-level menu design. The color of icons is simple, and some icons are shaded ▼

It has many carrier related applications, but most of them can be uninstalled ▼

The drop-down bar is displayed semi transparently, and the drop-down shortcut is changed to a round icon ▼

Lock screen interface, you can add application shortcut ▼

Add a new "mosaic" special effect ▼ to the lock screen

Slide to the right to display a circular clock, with an unlocking ring below. This unlocking form is similar to the original unlocking ▼

The setting interface is displayed in card style. The overall color matching is "small and fresh". It is worth mentioning that the color of the taskbar will change according to the color below ▼

The official system of G3 is based on Android 4.4.2, and the kernel version is 3.4.0. We got the Korean F400S, that is, the customized version ▼ of SK Telecom in South Korea

Developer option can select ART operation mode ▼

The dial panel also adopts card display, and the title bar is dark green ▼

The color of SMS is dark yellow ▼

File manager, the media content inside the fuselage is managed separately, and the title bar is gray ▼

The virtual key supports the user-defined function. You can add four virtual keys: notification, QMemo+, Quick multi task and dual window, and customize the position ▼

You can customize applications that need to hide virtual keys ▼

The application that specifies to hide the virtual key will adopt the immersive full screen mode. Pull up at the bottom of the screen to display the virtual key ▼

With a new intelligent cleaning function, it can automatically delete garbage files ▼

Knock Code added at G Pro 2 Tap the code function ▼

Performance and others

The PVS value of the G3 we got is 4 (the picture is too sad to be seen...) ▼

G3 is divided into two versions: high configuration (3G Ram+32G Rom) and low configuration (2G Ram+16G Rom). We get the former, and the usable storage space of the fuselage is about 25G. G3 adopts Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 MSM8974AC 2.5GHz processor ▼

Adreno 330 with 578MHz frequency, GPU driver version V66 ▼

1.6G memory is available when the machine is powered on, which is a little small ▼

A simple run was nearly 36000 points in the evaluation of Anthuru, but this score was not good for MSM8974AC ▼

Average 3D drawing score, less than 9000 ▼

Pi exceeds 29 seconds, which is not ideal for MSM8974AC ▼

3D graphics test GFXBench 3.0, G3 score reached Adreno 330@578MHz Should be level ▼

In order to check the smoothness of G3, we open "Profile GPU rendering" in the developer options and choose to display it as a line graph. A curve chart will appear in the screen at the bottom of the screen. When the curve chart exceeds the green line, it represents that the screen is less than 60 frames, that is, not smooth enough ▼

G3 performs well under the starter with high smoothness ▼

Baidu Post Bar 6.1.2, which can ensure that the post list is more than 60 frames when sliding ▼

The smoothness of Weibo 4.4 beta is still good. It seems that Snapdragon 801 is enough for 2K screen ▼ in daily applications

G3 adopts eMMC 5.0 flash memory chip and A1 SD Bench for speed test. The reading speed is about 230MB/s and the writing speed exceeds 86MB/s. The speed is ideal ▼

photograph

In the/system/lib directory, we found the word imx214 (in G2, this file is imx135), so we believe that G3 uses Sony's second-generation stack sensor imx214, which, together with laser focusing, will bring a better photographic experience ▼

The functions of the photographing interface have been greatly reduced. There are only some basic functions, such as hdr, auxiliary line, voice shutter, etc. Personally, this is not a good thing ▼

In addition to using OIS optical anti shake on G2, G3 also innovatively adds a laser focusing module to bring faster focusing speed. What about the imaging quality of G3? Here we use the Galaxy S5 for comparison:

Heliography

The ISO of G3 reaches 50, the shutter is 1/1538 seconds, the overall effect is good, and the color is flattering (click to view the original picture) ▼

The ISO of the Galaxy S5 reaches 40 and the shutter is 1/1408 seconds. There is little difference between the two data. The color of the Galaxy S5 is darker (click to view the original image) ▼

Zoom in and observe the central part of the picture. The resolution of the Galaxy S5 is still higher than that of the G3. The picture is rich in details ▼

The edge picture quality is G3 better ▼

Indoor proof sheet

There are not many options that can be set for G3 to take photos. In fact, G3 often automatically adapts to the scene to change the parameters of taking photos. For example, in this scene, G3 has automatically turned on the "Night View Mode" due to the dark light, so the ISO and shutter speed in EXIF information are no longer visible. The overall brightness of the picture is high and the resolution is satisfactory (click to view the original picture) ▼

The sample of Galaxy S5 shows that the ISO has been automatically raised to 1000 in the machine due to poor ambient light, and the noise is obvious (click to view the original image) ▼

Compared with the two, the overall effect of G3 is better ▼

Let's find another scene with worse light environment for comparison. G3 also automatically turns on the "Night View Mode", and the picture details are preserved well. It is estimated that G3 is also adjusted to a higher ISO in this environment, and there are also obvious noise points. In addition, the color is slightly red (click to view the original picture) ▼

To be fair, the Galaxy S5 also turns on "Night View Mode", that is, the pictures in the settings are stable. The whole doll can still be seen clearly, but there are still many noise points. In addition, the color of Galaxy S5 is more accurate than that of G3 (click to view the original image) ▼

Galaxy S5 has serious noise under dark environment ▼

Nightscape

In this environment, G3 also automatically turns on the "Night View Mode". The brightness is good, and the picture is slightly red ▼

The image of Galaxy S5 is dim, and the noise control is not very good. Of course, the night view is the weakness of Galaxy S5, so it's not surprising that this result appears ▼

More experiences about G3 will be shared with you in the detailed evaluation. Please wait.
