1，CyanogenMod 10.1

CyanogenMod (CM for short), the ancestor of the ROM world, is a must to introduce. It plays Android on computers. It can be said that it is useless in the computer world if you haven't played CM. CyanogenMod is an enhanced open source ROM based on the AOSP (Android Open Source Project). It has been widely known since CM6 (Android Froyo2.2) was provided for Nexus one, Dream, Magic, etc., and along with the development of a number of derived ROMs, such as MIUI, LIGUX, etc., even the well-known systems have more or less merged CM code or modified directly Base On. In any era, CM is at the forefront, based on AOSP4.2.2, code named CM10.1. Because most third-party ROM teams need to rely on the CM bottom layer to survive, generally CM is not updated, and other ROMs will almost stagnate in the previous generation of Android.

At the same time, CM also supports OTA updates. You can select the nightly, stable version or check the update frequency. However, OTA is not so powerful. It is not a differentiated patch package produced by comparison, but a complete zip package.

Interface Customization: including launcher, lock screen interface, theme and system interface options.
The function of the launcher is very rough, which is just a few more than that of the Android native launcher (the native adjustable item is 0). It is recommended to replace the NOVA launcher. After it is set as the default, you can directly call the NOVA settings in the System Settings - Launcher. Although it can not be called powerful, it ensures the system's unity, and will not make the system of your computer friends feel "foreign objects".
The lock screen option is worth mentioning the clock widget, which can set the calendar display and weather. This plug-in can be used in the lock screen. However, like native Android, CM's lock screen plug-in only supports several default plug-ins. It is a pity that it cannot use all desktop level plug-ins as AOKP would like to use.

Themes, CM theme engine has been widely used in various series of ROMs, and Google Play store can also easily download CM themes, which are generally common with ROMs such as AOKP.
The system interface and status bar adjustment support battery display adjustment, but do not support clock position and color adjustment, weak. The grid layout cannot be changed in quick panel settings. The layout of three switches per line consumes too much space, and a page cannot be filled with switches. The physical button has no change in the behavior of the return key. Even if more option menus are checked, it will not help.

Performance tuning can modify processor frequency, I/O scheduling mode, manage memory, and reduce graphics quality to improve graphics performance.

The multi-level restart menu is cancelled by default. It can be opened in the developer option.

SMS notification uses the popular pop-up window mode, Emoji expression support, gesture template reply, and dialer support T9 intelligent dialing, which is a little better than AOKP T9 code. The sequence is not as chaotic as AOKP, and it will not produce highlighted position errors.

The endurance is also pretty good. From 4 hours, 42 minutes and 18 seconds of 100% use, the screen lights up for 2 hours, 1 minute and 45 seconds, leaving 61%, slightly worse than the AOKP behind.

To sum up, the performance of CM10.1 in the I9300 is barely enough. There are too few customization items. There is no all end button. Operator text cannot be modified. Long press the return key to kill cannot be set. Phone or tablet UI mode cannot be switched. Desktop plug-ins cannot be added to the lock screen interface. Bugs that freeze images after the front camera takes photos have not been fixed, Although CM has always maintained the status of Big Brother, it does not do enough in the Apps and framework layers.

2，AOKP 4.2.2

AOKP now shares a lot of code with CM, and all of them have many similarities. Recently, AOKP is more customizable and CM has a tendency to come from behind. All AOKP series have been upgraded to 4.2.2.

AOKP has many customizable items, including ROM control, system theme, performance control, and independent device options for each model. The most commonly used ones are the customization of pull-down menu buttons, SMS status bar, and taskbar.

The most favorite part of AOKP is that the lock screen interface can be used directly by all desktop plug-ins. Android 4.2 has already provided the lock screen interface plug-in function, but only a few official applications are supported, and third-party adaptation is even less pitiful. It is undoubtedly the best result to insert the third-party desktop plug-in directly into the lock screen.
The following one is the lock screen interface, and the other is the desktop. The third-party weather plug-in can be easily inserted into the lock screen.

AOKP SMS supports breath notification, Emoji expression, prompt reply in notification bar, and dial support for Chinese T9 is not perfect. Sorting and Chinese English mixed input will embarrass him.

AOKP's performance in terms of power consumption is quite good, starting from 100%, with 7 hours, 18 minutes and 2 hours, 25 minutes and 59 seconds of screen lighting time. The remaining power is 59%, but the Android OS item is slightly higher.

In general, AOKP performs very well in the I9300. Except that the known front camera takes a post freeze frame picture (the same as CM), all other hardware runs smoothly. The theme engine, together with the special effects and icon package of NOVA launcher, is very suitable for users who love Android native UI and have a habit of customization. The UI can be modified much more than CM. But the feeling of running native Android with SAMSUNG in hand is not acceptable to everyone.
